Meininger Hotel Zürich Greencity

Wir waren eine kleine Truppe und checkten für 2 Nächte in Doppelzimmern ein. Diese waren klein, aber funktional ausgestattet, soweit sauber und ganz ok. Das Konzept dieses Hotel beinhaltet auch, das man wie in einer Jugendherberge sich nur einen Bettplatz in einem Zimmer kauft—＞ dieses wäre dann laut Hotel die günstigste Möglichkeit, in Zürich zu übernachten. Das haben wir allerdings nicht ausprobiert. Es gibt auch die Möglichkeit, in einer Gemeinschaftsküche zu kochen. Diese war aber bei unserer Inaugenscheinnahme sehr unaufgeräumt und teilweise sehr dreckig. Es sind zwar Schilder ( Deutsch/ Englisch) angebracht , wo drauf steht, man müsse die Küche ordentlich sauber verlassen, aber als wir dort reinkamen, war dort dreckiges Geschirr in der Spüle —＞ und wir und breit kein Mensch zu sehen. Im Kühlschrank war etwas ausgelaufen. Wir meldeten den Zustand der Küche an der Rezeption und bekamen als Antwort, das liege im Verantwortungsbereich der Gäste… also haben wir uns ein Restaurant in Zürich gesucht. Ich habe genauso wenig Lust wie das Hotelpersonal , die anderen ( die alles so hinterlassen ) Küchenbenutzer zu erziehen. Alles in allem finde ich das Konzept des Hotels theoretisch gut—＞ in der Praxis aber ist noch viel Luft nach oben .

The website for this hotel says that the rooms have a "fan coil unit" for cooling. When we arrived we were extremely disappointed that the lobby and our room were both humid and blisteringly hot. There is a sign in the room that says that if you would like the temperature adjusted in your room you can request that at the front desk. We spoke with someone at the front desk on three separate occasions and got three different stories as to why our room was not cooled. The bottom line is that our room was never cooled. It was so hot we had to (at one employee's recommendation) open our window and prop a fan there. We slept terribly due to the heat, humidity, and noise from the open window. This is not the experience that was advertised, and not what we paid for. Also, the kitchen is perpetually filthy. I understand that, really, the guests who use the kitchen should be cleaning up after themselves, but no one at the hotel enforces that, and no one at the hotel cleaned it up while we were there. When we went down in the evening, and then back down the next morning, the exact same dirty dishes and food splashes were still there, untouched. If you want to use the kitchen you will have to wash someone else's dishes first. The hallway of the floor we stayed on smelled awful, like some kind of deeply artificial, chemical cleanser smell. I can't even imagine what that smell must be covering. Really, it was just overall a hot, sweaty, dirty, smelly experience, and the employees were not particularly interested in correcting that.

We are a family of 5 from Edinburgh and stayed 2 nights as a base to go to the Liechtenstein v Scotland game. Everything in Zurich is widely expensive but this hotel was a great budget option for a family of 5. Easy access to Zurich central train station from the nearby Mannegg station which was a 5 minute walk. Big room with 2 sets of bunks and a double bed. Clean, tidy, good value and friendly welcoming staff on reception. Highly recommended

Wir waren mit einer 5er Gruppe in einem gemeinschaftszimmer. Dieses war sehr ordentlich, sauber und für uns als Gruppe hat nichts gefehlt. Das Personal war immer sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Auch die Einrichtung ist für dieses Segment echt cool und locker gewählt. Jeder hat Steckdosen an seinem Bett.

This is a delightful, modern, stylish hotel, perfect for backpackers, families and all types of tourist. It’s located in a quiet, well laid out neighbourhood of Zurich which is only 5 mins to the nearest station on buses, and 10 mins by train to Zurich HBF. We arrived in the morning after a long night train journey, but the staff very kindly found us a room for us to check in very early (for a small fee). If you want to save money in Zurich this hotel is perfect because it has a fantastic self-service kitchen with well organised fridge (and labels for your food!), which is kept spotlessly clean. The room was a good size with comfortable beds and an excellent bathroom and shower. The atmosphere among the staff and guests was friendly, relaxed and very welcoming. The price of the room was also terrific value, especially given that Zürich is a very expensive city. When we come back to Zurich in future we will 100% book at this hotel

Kann ich nicht empfehlen, beim Check In wurde von ALLEN eine ID oder Pass verlangt (ich habe das Zimmer nicht gebucht, sondern meine Frau). Ich habe keine dabei gehabt, wollte mich mit der offiziellen SwissID ausweisen wo auch mein SBB GA registriert ist, das wurde nicht akzeptiert und gedroht ich könne sonst nicht einchecken. Am Schluss nach langem hin und her, konnte ich dann doch das Zimmer beziehen. Schade dass man mit solchen unnötigen Kleinigkeiten den Gast verärgert. Wenn schon so auf die Ausweise ALLER beharrt wird, müsste das in der Reservationsbestätigung klar ersichtlich sein. Die Zimmer sind genug klein, für eine Nacht ok. Die Klimaanlage in den Zimmern lässt sich nicht ausschalten.
