Zhangjiajie Ruyuan Homestay (Wulingyuan Landmark Store, National Forest Park)

This hotel really has been a highlight of our trip in China. The hotel owner and staff are so helpful and delightful. They really go the extra yard to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They offer a free pick up service from the airport and train station which we gratefully accepted. The hotel is situated in the town and was a key reason why we chose this hotel as it was a short stroll to all the local food spots - extremely handy for dinner. The hotel is a 15-20 minute flat walk to the entrance to the Park. All the amenities are extremely luxurious including C.O Bigelow bathroom amenities, Doewe Egberts filtered coffee, Dyson hair dryer set, Smart TV and room integrated with an AI assistant (Chinese language), soft velvety bathrobes, toilet with a bidet, and Bamford bath salts. Breakfast is made fresh daily with the choice of wontons, rice noodles and shrimp noodles. Complimenting this is a selection of delicious fruits, steamed buns, sausage, dumplings and rice congee. Eastern and Western diets are catered for with many seasonal fruits on offer. We also had toast and fruit juice. They also offer a free laundry service and did the laundry for us on our last evening and the clothes were ready early in the morning on our departure. Of huge importance to us was them taking the guess work out of organising our trip to the Zhangjiajie National Park. The owner sat down with us and provided a large map of the park and skillfully explained which parts to visit and which transportation to take between each site and sketched it on the map for us to keep. We paid for a park-wide ticket that covered all the internal transportation and access fees - something we highly recommend and is extremely efficient and economical. On the day of our visit to the park it was terribly cold, rainy, windy, and foggy. We were unsure which bus to take at one of the sites and they promptly replied to us on WeChat (this program is a must to use when travelling in China and most hotels use this to communicate with you when not face to face) after we took a picture of the signs and asked which bus to take. They also turned the temperature up to 26 degrees in our room so we were welcomed with a warm, toasty room. So considerate!! The room also had shoe dryers for wet shoes. On our last day during breakfast, at the communal table were guests from Hong Kong, Australia, Russia and Africa. This hotel is extremely foreigner friendly. We are so glad we chose this hotel!

We stayed at Ruyuan Homestay in Wulingyuan, and it was absolutely superb. The hosts were incredibly helpful and assisted us a lot in planning our trip through the major attractions like Tianmen Mountain), Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Baofeng Lake. Everything was perfectly clean, organized, breakfast exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended for anyone!

The rooms are of a very high standard with super comfortable mattresses and a selection of various types of pillows - I slept wonderfully. Very good amenities, for example, a Dayson hair dryer and a special shoe dryer, which was very useful after a whole day of hiking in the mountains. The kind and helpful ladies at the reception booked tickets for us and helped plan our stay; they translated into Chinese for us when we had to arrange something outside the hotel. When I couldn't rent a power bank, an extremely nice lady lent me one using her Alipay account. I recommend this hotel."

This hotel was absolutely wonderful — and I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world, so I have plenty to compare it to. If I had to rate it on a scale from one to ten, I’d give it 11 points — no, wait — 12 points! The owner of the hotel is a very kind person who provided us with lots of useful information while we were exploring this beautiful region. I could turn to him with any request, and he was always ready to help. The hotel is beautifully furnished, with great attention to every little detail. If I come back to this area again, I will definitely stay here.

Good experience, good coffee n tea. Owners very detailed in her design of her property and her services towards her guests. We had a great time there.

Both my friend and I agreed this is the best non chained hotel. First the owner, before our stay, she helped us identified the type of tickets we needed for the zhangjiajie national park and also purchased and booked the time for the parks. Next, upon reaching the hotel at 7am, the owner greeded us and offered us free breakfast and reminded our time for the park. After a long day exploring the park, we returned and checked in the hotel and again, we were astonished by the type of room the hotel offered. All finishings are 1st class and in excellent almost new conditions:: Dyson dryer, 3 shower heads options, electronic toilet seat, and the first class bed and took both of us less than 10 minutes to sleep and slept thru the whole night without waking up.
