Robert greeted us with a smile and helped make our stay a delight. He upgraded us to the nicest room that had just been renovated. We will definitely be back every month for a weekend. We enjoyed the hammocks, the cabanas and the Blockade. Thanks!

Even though the Blockade Runner (for now) is in the middle of a renovation, we had a fantastic time. Staying on the 4th floor facing the surf and sunrise is a memory of a lifetime! We spent every morning on the beach and visited both the Crystal pier and the Johnny Mercer pier. Wrightsville Beach is a great place for a vacation and all other sites to see are an easy drive away. I can't forget, a giant shout out to Anke, the best front desk representative I have ever met. She made our BR even better.

We stayed at the blockade runner for 3 nights, I was not informed that they were doing construction otherwise we never would’ve booked this resort. We paid a lot for an out dated room, The staff was very friendly. The continental breakfast was awful they offered waffles, fruit, muffins, juice, coffee, cereal only. Blockade Runner for the money you charge you can a lot BETTER.

First time at this iconic resort and despite a comedy of errors, we will definitely return! Room was nice, comfortable and clean. The staff at this resort is amazing! Friendly, helpful and happy to help. The restaurant staff was super friendly and breakfast is pretty good. The pool bar staff is super upbeat and fun even when they forget to put in your food order that you keep asking about at the pool bar. He owned up to it and of course, we weren’t charged after waiting for 2 hours. They were working so hard and were out of food. The chef had been fired that day and due to a complete overhaul renovation starting in two days, food had not been ordered to accommodate the Labor Day weekend crowd. There had been issues with the elevator which was out of order the last day. We had a great time relaxing on the beach and enjoying the beautiful water. Already looking at dates for our next visit!

I have always gave great reviews when they are warranted and for ones that were not I never wrote a bad review because everyone’s opinion is so different, however this is my first. My husband and I have come the Blockade Runner for years for our anniversary and we have always looked forward to being here. But this year came with such disappointment. There was just so much wrong I’m just going to start. We had no balcony which was one of the high lights of our stay was eating breakfast looking out at the ocean with the breeze. We were suppose to have an ocean view, well we had a building in front of our window so no beautiful beach view. At night we would leave our balcony doors open to hear the waves such a serene sound, however we couldn’t do that because due to the building in front of our sliding window there was a security light that was bright as all get out that reflected off of that building straight into our window so curtains had to be closed. Our room had no microwave, the shower was nearly impossible to cut off it ran constantly. And the floors. I had to wear my crocs from shower to bed the floors were filthy it felt like they were washed with dirty water, I did call the front desk immediately upon arrival to make them aware of our disappointment, I stated to her how I couldn’t believe we paid $400.00 a night for this and asked her how could that be with the view we had, not concerned at all not making any attempts to rectify even a little she was dismissive and short. The next morning went down stairs to get coffee. The employee there asked “are you enjoying you stay”. I said not all and I was really disappointed, she said “yeah a lot of people has said that this year. And you should try being an employee. There are new owners or management frankly can’t remember which she said I was in aww that she said it. Oh yeah and what the heck we had to pay 18.00 for parking at the hotel we are staying at what is that all about. I feel like I am forgetting something. But long story short. My husband and I will start looking for a new anniversary spot this is absolutely the last stay here.

There is a reason rooms are prepaid and no refunds. The grounds are beautiful and the view from our fourth floor ocean front room was spectacular but the experience was horrible. There are no tables and chairs at the pool only lounge chairs. For people of a certain age , an umbrella and chair is more comfortable than a lounge chair. There is an extra charge for incidentals which we didn’t expect, but okay. Had dinner at the pool bar our first night and w Hike the food was average the service was friendly and efficient. Had breakfast in the restaurant the next morning and things went downhill fast. I have had my share of bad coffee but never been served cold coffee. My bacon tasted off, and my husband sent his waffle back twice because it was stone cold the first two times. I got food poisoning from breakfast and spent all of the next day in bed. My husband stayed with me and never left the room, so imagine our surprise when we checked our bill to find a substantial charge for cocktails at the pool bar. We did have hot water for the shower and the tv didn’t work either. Very disappointed in our experience. We will never be back
