I booked a double room but they gave us twin beds and just put the twin beds together so they kept coming apart

We walked along the steps beside the hotel to access their carpark, covered in broken glass, rubbish and sick. Went to room, bath had dirty towels in it, bed not made, rubbish in bin, dirty cups. reported to reception but on returning to room only towels replaced. Asked to be moved, next room not much better but at least it had been serviced. Main bedroom light not working, bathroom light kept flickering. Broken curtain .Bathroom was dire, both my husband and I refused to touch the shower as you had to stand in a grotty bath that had seen better days. Toilet holder broken ,sink plug broken, went to move pedestal fan and dirty plaster was stuck to it. Windows and surround were filthy Would have moved hotel if we were not staying here with another couple. Went to breakfast at 8 on a Sunday, TV blaring out football and other music was playing across the bar at the same time, tables were tacky. The lady receptionist was lovely. Marston's need to deep clean this hotel and spend some money on it to bring it up to a decent level.

Must be 30 years or more since I stayed here last. I was not disappointed. Clean and comfortable rooms. For an overnight stay it was just what we needed.The staff were so helpful especially the female receptionist. Handy being able to park at the hotel as well.

Waited for 45 minutes at reception while a golf society were complaining about rooms. Finally got a key to my room to find clothes on the bed and a man appears out the bathroom wearing a towel. Amazement from us both coupled with embarrassment. Back down to reception. I complain, as you do. Waiting while a member of staff ran around and finally got a room for three nights. Room very poor. I have taken photos to prove it. Ceiling in bathroom obviously had a leak. Open curtains, plaster coming away from the reveals. Toilet first day flush. Kaput. Reported each day as not working. 3 days and nothing done. Never ever again. Trying to find out CEO of Marstens email so I go direct to him. Shocking.

This was the worst place I’ve stayed. The room was cheap and reflected the state of the hotel. It’s also facing a load of clubs with music playing till midnight. There was a fight outside at 4am. Drilling noises outside our door at 12am, and roadworks starting at 7.30. But it gets worse. The booking was made as a work booking, with a virtual credit card attached, which was charged for the price shown at time of booking. So on check in my partner was asked for his card for a deposit in case of damage. He gave his personal card over and a few days later this was charged £39.45. He contacted the hotel and spoke to someone who said that he was new and needed to go and check. He was going to speak to the duty manager and call back. He didn't. My partner called again today and was told that the additional payment is because the booking was actually £91.11. Needless to say, our travel company at work are now trying to resolve this. DO NOT BOOK.
