Its such a pity that so many little things could be fixed to make this an outstanding venue. Its a ghost of a hotel, with the brightest lights in all areas, like a kitchen! Even the dining room, devoid of guests was sitting under fluorescent lights! The " bar area" was really a lobby, tables decked out in tablecloths and no one there. So, firstly, replace ALL bulbs with warm white, out with the LED. Remove clothes from tables in the bar, get some candles maybe . Kill the high volume background hotel music! Staff were friendly, but no one ever at reception and people being trained in it seems. Bar person- she simply didn't want to be there, grumpy and served gin with no lemon or lime until I asked. Small things, but customer service is number one! We didn't have food as pub down the road got rave reviews so we ate there both nights. We did witness ONE lone couple being served food ( chef walks through the bar with the plates to hand to waitress to serve!) Big old door at dining area leading onto store/ cold room. Who planned the layout? Had 2 cups of coffee and a croissant (hard) on checking out, and paid €17!! I queried it but wasn't up to the explanations. Cake and scones on display on bar counter day 1, still there day 3. Not good enough. I worked in the tourist industry for over 10 years, don't like giving negative reviews but needs must. I would advise closing for Jan and Feb, get the staff trained up, offer breakfast as inclusive rather than 17.50 p/p and get the kitchen to perhaps have a look at the pub down the road! Would be interested to visit again in a year and update you. Thanks
