I arrived at the Angel after a long and quite stressful drive returning my son to Bath for uni. Unusually I had done the trip alone and plans to eat in Bath had fallen through so an unappealing solo dinner in a pub on a Friday night beckoned. I needn't have worried - the young guy who checked me into my room and sorted out my table booking was so helpful and welcoming, excellent service and good food, I didn't feel lonely at all! I had a single room within the hotel itself, plenty big enough and a nice bathroom with bath. Would be happy to stay here again - worth considering if you too are taking students to Bath or Bristol and find Bath is full.

Stayed here at the weekend for two nights. After unpacking we realised there was no tv remote in the room. We advised the lad on reception, who after a cursory search, couldn't find one suitable. Apart from a verbal apology we weren't offered an alternative room. Pity as room and bed comfortable shower great. No attempt was made to recompense us for lack of a room essential?

Absolutely fantastic hotel very clean very comfortable excellent bar service unfortunately I didn’t eat here as I’m not one for eating alone in a pub. Stayed here for 2 work weeks and have asked my company to put on top of list for this area. Staff are so welcoming and polite the rooms are spacious and cosy. I can’t write enough for the hotel as it speaks for itself.

I have not eaten here for over 20 years and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was and service. An interesting if slightly brief menu but the food was of a high standard. The only downside were the most uncomfortable chairs I have sat on for a long time. We tried three different ones and either sagged or were just a board. A bit of investment required here.

Gone downhill, been here a few times and had a pleasant lunch as it’s a nice venue. But they’ve changed the menu for lunch, breakfast until later but the lunch food, basically fish and chips or ham egg and chips. Caesar salad no meat as such, no pies, the ham, egg and chips, very average and the fish over cooked. Sad as used to enjoy using this as an alternative venue. Need to up your game.

We popped in for coffee and it was surprisingly welcoming. Very comfortable seating and lovely staff. We haven't stayed here or had a meal yet but we will be going for Sunday lunch. We might go for lunch during the week as it has a good variable menu.

Stayed for a quick overnight break, Lovely little town location but some improvements really needed Room really warm, big crack in bath, bit gutted the pub stops serving food at 7.30 Not the best sleep with alarms going off Breakfast was really tasty and lovely quality but some fruit and maybe yogurt would be nice

Visited The Angel for lunch recently. There was a warm greeting and the atmosphere was good. Service was prompt and efficient. I ordered the fish finger sandwich with a side of chips. There was only white bread available which was not ideal but it arrived quickly and was nicely presented. The chips were delicious but the sandwich was very disappointing. There was hardly any fish? It was mainly fried batter and very greasy and the bread was very thin 😒 such a shame. Would return with the hope that the experience is improved.

2nd stay at the Angel I would stay nowhere else!!!(in that area!)Great accommodation, proffessional , clean,comfortable, absolutely nothing was too much trouble!! Great food!!!
