Lewis River Inn

Room- clean and comfortable  Breakfast- limited: waffles, biscuits & gravy, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, muffins. No meat, no cold cereal. First keys didn’t work. Second keys to our room did work, but somebody else’s stuff was in the room. Third set of keys - to new room - worked. Clean and empty! And comfortable. Good air conditioning with outdoor temps in the 90’s.

We like to travel with our dogs so I always look for places that allow pets. The Lewis River Inn doesn't just allow pets, they welcome them. There was a water and food dish in the bathroom area. This came as a very pleasant surprise. We always travel with our own but it is great to know that if we had forgotten, they had us covered. The recliner also had a seat cover just like we have at home to protect it from dog hair. Not all rooms are pet friendly so keep that in mind. I would have loved to have had a river view but bringing my dogs was more important. I am a birder and enjoyed sitting on the guest patio anytime I could to watch the birds at the feeder, in the flower bed, in the trees, or even in the river. I recorded 13 species of birds in under 30 minutes while just sitting in one spot. The rooms are big and clean. We had a 2 queen pet friendly room because our 14yo son was with us as well. The breakfast is very nice. They have a waffle maker, oatmeal, fruit, pastries, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, etc...

We just needed a place to sleep outside of Portland on our way into WA. Very pleasant accomodations and staff. Big fluffy towels!! The next morning enjoyed the back patio overlooking the river - so peaceful.

The context of this trip was a stay the night before and the night after an arduous hike to the summit of Mt. St. Helens. Woodland is the most convenient gateway city for an attack on the summit (well, other than perhaps the very small town of Cougar, WA, but it has very limited amenities). As of summer 2025, Woodland does not seem to have any "name brand" hotels in the middle-upper tier of the lodging continuum. It is with some trepidation that I book a room at an independent hotel or motel with relatively low room rates, but I have to say this property was a pleasant surprise, providing a spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet room. It's not "luxury", but it was plenty sufficient for my taste. My friend (who stayed in a different room) was fairly happy with it too. Check-in was fast and efficient, with a very friendly desk clerk (alas, I do not recall her name) and a basket of Tootsie Rolls and other candies. The room was clean and spacious, with fresh white bedding and linens. It also had a nice couch. The climate control worked well on the very hot check-in day and was also not overly noisy like some hotel HVAC units are. I appreciate that the room had a refrigerator and microwave, and the refrigerator also had a small freezer compartment that came in handy for refreezing my reusable ice blocks. The sink area is outside the bathroom and has a spacious counter. The bathroom and shower were clean and the water pressure was good. The room had plenty of electrical outlets. The parking lot is spacious and felt well-lit and secure. The mattress was comfortable. The TV had an extensive selection of channels, and the TV responded quickly to "channel up" and "channel down", enabling fast channel surfing. The back of the hotel abuts the Lewis River. There are a few premium rooms with nice views of the river, and also a pleasant patio area available to all guests. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast. My friend and I were not able to take advantage of it on the first morning as we were heading off to our hike at 3:30 AM. However, we had breakfast on the second morning. It's not fine dining but it is sufficient. There's a waffle maker, and also boiled eggs, yogurt, instant oatmeal, pastries and bread, orange juice and milk and coffee. There are several restaurants within a 3-minute walk of the hotel, including a very nice Mexican restaurant across the street at which my friend and I enjoyed an indulgent dinner after our ascent of Mt. St. Helens. There's a small park on the other side of I-5 called "Horseshoe Lake Park" where there are some walking paths that provide a pleasant place to stretch your legs. My only complaint is that the WiFi signal was not very strong (at least not in my room) and hence pages loaded slowly. If I were to return to the area, I would be fine to stay here again.

Check in was friendly and efficient, we had two queen beds, very clean, comfortable beds, hot shower...great sleep. No elevator, but easy second floor...oh, and it's a no smoking hotel

Stayed in two motel rooms in July for my sons and husband to climb Mount St Helens. Rooms were clean and complimentary breakfast was a nice touch. Staff were wonderful - very helpful. Just off the highway and a short walk into the town. Horseshoe lake was lovely to sit for a coffee

Its a motel which I don't usually prefer but there wasn't many options around. It was clean and had plenty of counter space in the bathroom area. The bathroom was small but also very clean. The motel staff were pleasant and it included free breakfast. Simple breakfast with basics. Only had hard boiled eggs, biscuit or bread to toast, waffle maker and coffee. Overall it was a nice stay and close to Wal-Mart if you wanted to pick up drinks or snacks. We didn't hear any outside noise during our stay which was surprising due to the motel to be on a main road. There weren't many places around to eat dinner at. We decided to go to a local bar which was down the street and it was pretty yuck!

What a great little gem of a hotel! We stayed here the night before a big hike and found the room very comfortable for getting a decent night's sleep. Front desk staff were friendly. I wish we could have tried breakfast, but we were out the door at o'dark thirty for our hike. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a good place to sleep prior to hiking Mt. St. Helens!
