Bonkle House

Once a grand house but clearly now a bit bedraggled and tatty. The photographer who took the pictures for Bonkle house did an amazing job, or they are from many years ago. It really needs a proper redecoration.

Second time visitor Second time I've stayed here and loved it just as much this time as last. There was some sort of annoying alarm/noise going off quite late at night which stopped just as I was away to call for help. Other than that it was another lovely stay!

We arrived early as friends were still in work very kindly they let us into our room slightly early. The porter was friendly however his English was ok but maybe our accent he found difficult to understand. I had booked for 3 nights and my girlfriend had booked for 2 nights (5 nights altogether) I had emailed to ask if ok for the same room so don’t have to move and was all good hotel side! Room to a ok standard had no room check bins emptied towels changed in first 3 days here! Tv Ariel signal poor so was hard to watch tv when chilling at night. No receptionist place is left empty just a note to call number if need any assistance. Kitchen facilities very standard left out Chinese on the side and coffee n tea bags left out kitchen like an office/storage area for cleaning products. If your looking for place to crash clean up this fits the bill but anything else I’m afraid is not to stay here.

Lovely property and grounds, spacious comfy rooms

Badly neglected, stained towels, no service The owners need to put a lot more effort into what could be a nice place, but is currently extremely run down, and service is non-existent. We were met by a child, a bit confused by the paperwork, and taking instructions from unseen adults in a back room. That’s the last we saw of any staff. We had booked for 3 people in the triple room, but we realised in the morning there were only 2 towels and one was stained. The front desk had a number to ring for assistance, and three more if no-one answered. All 4 numbers went unanswered at 8am and none had a voicemail facility. We had booked for two nights but given these issues, made other arrangements for the second night instead. We couldn’t even communicate this to the owners as there was no one there! It’s very expensive as well for what it is. The paperwork seems a bit obsessed with outlining potential extra charges. No breakfast facilities, and no other options in the town other than an Asda. Overall an unwelcoming experience.

Warm and comfortable hotel We had a huge room with sofa and 2 beds. Decor is dated but still was comfortable and nice and warm. Adequate facilities - bathroom / TV/ tea & coffee. No option for breakfast it is just bed. House keeping could have waited until later in the day to knock on as woke us up early on Sunday, wasn’t very happy about that. Mistake on check out time, I thought 11 and it was 10am, they were understanding which was appreciated.
