Gasthof Linden & Wildkräuterhotel

Five stars - because I loved this hotel. It will not suit everyone, however, as it is in the small village of Linden (part of Windelsbach, apparently), a very quiet setting. It took only about a 30 minute walk one evening to explore almost the entire village, which gives some idea of the size of the village. This hotel is only convenient if you have a car; in that case, it is excellent for visiting Rothenburg, as the parking lots that surround Rothenburg are only 10 minutes away. This is a very German hotel - nothing like a chain hotel. The room was quite large with a large bathroom, lots of storage, and a nice view over the park beside the hotel. There is a parking lot for the hotel of reasonable size, but when the hotel is full, that parking lot may also be full (as it was when we were there). In that case there is street parking available on the north side of the hotel. The nearby associated restaurant is very good for supper. As others have mentioned, you check in for the hotel at the restaurant, receive your key, and then drive over to the hotel. However, the breakfast is served in the actual hotel building. It was the usual German breakfast buffet, with many good-quality choices. Everything was delicious. Overall, a very good stay.
