Lainston House

We had the most wonderful stay, from the moment we arrived we were looked after by Hayley and Jane from reception who couldn’t do enough. Alex in the bar who made sure our food and drinks were served with care and attention. Our room was beautiful and the housekeeping again was excellent with a box of goodies on arrival, chocolate and popcorn amongst other nibbles. This has to be one of the prettiest hotels we have stayed in, just charming. The grounds are beautifully kept, with lovely walks around, we even used the tennis courts and the bikes. We will return again soon.

Exceptionnelle maison de campagne anglaise avec un charme fou et un personnel souriant et très agréable et professionnel. Chambre spécieuse et confortable , propre et bien équipée . Le petit déjeuner est correcte sans être exceptionnel. En résumé, nous avons passé un agréable séjour et pouvons sans problème y retourner pour cette fois profiter du restaurant qui semble très intéressant .

We really enjoyed our short stay at Lainston House. The setting and rooms are lovely but the really standout thing apart from the really great food was the people. From Gerry on reception who also showed us to our room to the maitre’d in the restaurant who explained each course so eloquently and then arranged for us to meet their very talented head chef Tom who had produced a wonderfully memorable meal. Thank you all and we look forward to returning!

Christmas lunch for 7 inedible food, cold food awful service from totally uninterested servers, uncomfortable surroundings and worse still when we complained management said that they disagreed and nobody else complained so basically £1200 for 7 starters and 7 cold desserts no coffee tea, but lovely bread and butter!

A magical hotel with wonderful dining experiences and a fantastic team who make you feel welcome and special. This was our 40th wedding anniversary and although the Lainston House comes with a 5 star price it provides value at every turn. On our first night we had the tasting menu in the Avenue Restaurant. It was sublime. On our second night we experienced the Wellhouse Restaurant and enjoyed the best Porterhouse Steak I’ve ever eaten. Breakfast each morning was excellent and served in a such a calm setting that it was almost therapeutic. The hotel also offers free to use good quality mountain bikes - which we used to cycle 15kms around the beautiful countryside surrounding Lainston House. They also offer the use of a Tandem Bike which we tried, but only around the hotel grounds!! Lainston House also has a gym and tennis courts although on this visit we ran out of time to try them out. A first class hotel operated by a wonderful team of people. And a particular shout out to Gerry from Guest Relations. She was brilliant and such a wonderful advert for the hotel and the group.

Try the Wellhouse. Amazingly good food, all grown on site or from Hampshire. The chefs Big Tom and George as well as Josyan, our server, were friendly, interesting and really know their stuff. A wander in the kitchen to talk cooking as well as a look at the really deep well. Well worth a visit.
