The Shepherd's Purse

A hidden gem! Tucked away in a courtyard in the historic old town. It was the perfect base for our walks and stayed Saturday and Sunday evening. We stayed in room 5, although it was small, the room was warm and cosy and had everything we needed. Recommend catching the train to Grosmont and walking back and also walking to Sandsend and eating at the Fish Cottage. We will return.

Pleasant stay We didn’t actually see anybody on arrival or during our stay, our key was in the door when we arrived. The room was clean and cosy. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough coffee for the cafetière, or loose leaf tea although there were containers for both. We also ran out of milk on the first day it wasn’t replenished while we were out for the day and didn’t realise until the evening, thankfully a local cafe was open and helped us out. The room wasn’t serviced during our stay, this could just be a misunderstanding on our part as to the type of accommodation we had booked (I was thinking hotel). We did have a lovely stay however and it would not put us off coming again (just with more of our own tea/coffee/toiletries.

Amazing Amazing place to stay, would recommend it to everyone, warm, clean and everything you need for a short break, minutes from the Main Street and all the amenities it also has a beautiful garden to relax in with a glass of wine. Can’t wait to go back again.
