Windham Hill Inn

Travelers should note that many posted photos are not recent since the restaurant is not available after there was a fire in the building a few years ago. Our comfortable room was located on the second floor of a rustic barn. An adequate continental breakfast was served in the lower level of the barn. The very small keyless entry was difficult to use to open the door which took several tries. The room was attractive with comfortable wing chairs which was located upstairs in a rustic barn. The room was clean, but the carpets could use vacuuming. We enjoyed chatting with other guests, but did not have even a Good Morning from the staff. There are few options for dinner in the area. We did find an outdoor pizza oven on Main St. operated by a non-profit the night we were there.

I booked a room here for one night. The website boasts beautiful rooms, exquisite dining and relaxing grounds. I put the address in my GPS and unfortunately we could not find the Inn. We ended up on dangerous dirt roads before finally finding our way back to civilization. When I finally got a signal and was able to contact the Inn by text (because they didn't answer the phone) they informed me they didn't have a restaurant or bar (as advertised). They refused to refund my money- which I understand to a point since I didn't cancel in advance, however, I feel that they should have made some type of good faith gesture with a partial refund as they did not have a restaurant or bar available and there is no place nearby to eat. They should have informed us in advance that the restaurant was closed. I asked them to consider a refund of the taxes since they wouldn't have to pay them on an unoccupied room ($20) and they didn't respond. Very disappointing experience.
