Travelodge Wellington Somerset

My husband and I stayed here for one night in January. Hotel was fine, definitely no frills. However, to begin with there was no hand soap in the dispenser, not the end of the world, but annoying. I was surprised to find there was no iron, ironing board or hairdryer in the room. As soon as I walked in the room I turned down the radiator as it was uncomfortably hot, only to be awoken several times in the night because the radiator had turned itself back up. Not a good night’s sleep or a particularly pleasant experience.

Excellent value and all round experience. Free WiFi sign in didn't work but had sufficient phone data signal so it didn't matter

I stayed at the Wellington Travelodge at the same time as my mother on 10th December. The reception service, when we arrived at about 4.30pm, was terrible. When we arrived there was no member of staff in reception. Another couple told us they had already been waiting for 5 minutes. Eventually a resident told us there was a bell outside, but ringing it made no difference. I eventually found the number for the Wellington Travelodge and rang that. A man answered and came into reception. He was in a scruffy teeshirt and was very tattooed and said he'd been working upstairs. By this time two residents had come into reception as their room keys no longer worked. My mother and I eventually received our keys, but when we got to our rooms, my mother's didn't work so she had to go back downstairs. When we went down at 6.30pm there was a different customer in reception and he had been waiting for ages too. We told him about the outside bell. The bed was extremely hard and so were the pillows. I slept very badly. The room was clean. The next morning there was a very nice lady on reception, smart and efficient and she told us there should have been a notice displayed the evening before with a freephone number on it, but there had definitely been nothing there. So I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Car parking is easy and lots of it. Extremely convenient for shops & food on the site. I arrived a day late and was greeted by Matt who kindly explained what happens if you miss the first stay of your stay. With that being said, he reinstated my stay and got me a room with no fuss. My key card didn’t work but he made sure I was put in another room so I wasn’t in a situation where my key card didn’t work. He was very friendly & personable and overall a really lovely experience you want when checking in a hotel. Thanks Matt!!
