Kimpton Grand Roatan Resort and Spa

This is my first review ever on trip advisor. From the very beginning Kimpton Grand Roatan was top notch. The front desk treated me with respect and honored my accommodation request during my stay. They were friendly and helpful in upgrading our room. The staff went above and beyond service to make me and my partner feel at home. I had made reservations for a day bed by the beach and they made sure we were well cared for and hydrated. I even exchanged cellphone numbers with the staff as we became more like friends than employees at a resort. On the last day/check out, I left my bracelet in my room. I was distraught at the airport thinking that I would never wear something that held sentimental value on a travel to Thailand. Anyhow, I called the front desk, and the contacts I made with the staff and manager. Needless to say, they went out of their way to find my bracelet. When they called me that they found it...I was elated. I couldn't wait to go back and personally thank them. The following month on Honduras Independence Day, I went back and retrieved my bracelet. I thanked the manager and staff personally. Here's a photo of my black coral bracelet and enjoyed the festivities and meal over there. I'll be back. I keep my promises.

This resort / hotel is absolutely wonderful. The facilities, restaurants, pool, and bungalow guest room are all top notch. I greatly appreciated the wonderful staff and the extras they provide that you don't see often. From the welcome drink at checkin, to the complimentary happy hour, poolside towel service and snack, they were all wonderful touches. My family and I were well treated by pool attendant August and server Tayri Miguel Favio at Sea Cat bar/restaurant. We started everyday with breakfast at Alera restaurant with personalized service from Jeidsi Valdez. My 3 year old daughter had a great time. Ground transportation from the airport was arranged seamlessly with concierge Lea Raymond. We will definitely be returning for another stay.

This is a solid luxury option on Roatan; I also stayed at ARCA but will review it separately. Pros. The place is huge, and on rainy days there are lots of places to hide out. Rooms are massive with balconies that view the ocean in the main building. Great warm helpful staff. Caery/Kerry (at the pool was the best) The place is very clean. Beach is mostly private and you can snorkel right off it. Solid breakfast with attentive staff. Lots of towels. Wine Hour was solid with delicious apps. It is about as luxury as you can get in Roatan. they do have a nightly shuttle to West End should you want to go (it is not for families) Nice workout facility in the spa (free for guests) Spritz hour from 2-5 for $7 spritz's Cons. It is big, so from room to the beach can be a haul. some balconies not protected from rain (they do dry quickly) You are isolated. YOu can walk to other places but you will get wet from waves or walk the backroads which can be dirty. Spa is expensive $250 for a massage. If you like big places this would be for you. I can't fault them for anything and staff is wonderful. We booked through amex so we got a room upgrade and some $$ to spend which was nice.

Joshua from Roatan activities was fantastic and was very good. Great location it’s a must go! Customer service was excellent the food was fantastic. The spa was top notch as well. Really enjoyed our honeymoon trip. Don’t think twice you must go.

The entire staff was amazing!! Especially our friends Joshua from Roatan Activities, Ernesto and Farid at Vos Cafe and the service staff. They really make your experience at the resort a thousand times mor enjoyable We will come back for sure!

My wife and I stayed at the Kimpton Grand Roatan and encountered only the highest level of service and cleanliness and attention to detail. I couldn't think of any change they could make to make it my stay any more comfortable. Everyone who works there was so eager to be helpful in every way. The way August at the pool could predict what we might want showed his experience and caring nature. Cesar at the Sea Cat restaurant made us feel like he was serving us in his own home rather than a restaurant. In the mornings at breakfast, Aaron made sure everything was just right. We were expecting some perks that were included as part of booking this trip. Apparently, applying perks across different systems can be complicated, but Emma at the front desk reassuringly worked everything out for us. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the maintenance man who modified my wooden souvenir to fit my bag or the cleaning lady who remembered that we liked an extra towel, or the nice man at the front door who always helped us with our bags and greeted us with a smile, or the late night bartender at the Vos bar who would prepare a cup of hot water for us to have tea in our room after dinner. Everything we ordered at the resort's restaurants was the absolute best and deserves its own long review. A unique thing about this resort is that you can walk the beach for several hundred yards and find a lot of restaurants right on the water. If you want some good local food, walk behind the bananarama to a shopping area called La Placita. A quick note regarding breakfast, my wife and I had our breakfast both included. In the past, at other resorts, I would take a plate of food to her in the room. Kimpton had a policy that would not allow that. The servers were apologetic, so I mention it in hopes that management might change it in the future.

Save your money. The restaurants at the hotel and down the street are mediocre at best. They had only one person at the concierge desk, so service was slow and poor. They are on a public beach, so you need to sit way back on the hotel grounds to feel some degree of safety, although the hotel does have armed guards patrolling. The biggest problem with Roatan these days is that cruise ships are a plague destroying the island, just as they are destroying formerly beautiful places like Belize. These monstrosities unload hordes of tourists descending like locusts simultaneously on all attractions. Any activities outside of the hotel must be scheduled around the cruise ship hoards.

The location is ideal, right on the beach, and the snorkeling opportunities were incredible—so many vibrant fish and corals just steps away! The on-site spa is a must-try if you're looking for some extra pampering. All in all, if you're looking for a luxurious, yet laid-back experience in Roatan, this resort is the place to be. Definitely planning to come back!
