Hermitage Hill Country Retreat

Beautiful heritage building and grounds in a commanding position up on the hill. The room was very cosy and comfortable with a great common room and facilities. Looking forward to seeing your ongoing development of the site especially the restaurant. It was interesting talking to Lee about his plans for the future.

We will be back. We stayed in the nurses' quarters. Very warm, comfortable and quiet. Sitting on the verandah whatching the sunset evoked images of times past. So looking forward to visiting again and seeing the renovations of the function rooms and restaurant.

Pictures on the advertising material are misleading. The lovely historic hospital building is currently under “renovation” although no work or workers were evident during our thankfully brief visit. The restaurant is closed has been for some time we gather although advertising does not advise of this. Other eating options are at the other end of town meaning this property is really convenient to nothing. Our room was tiny with a shared bathroom/toilet as advertised however the other couple travelling with us were at the other end of the property rather than close by as we would have preferred and been more than willing to share with. The shared common room was equipped with basic cooking equipment (including a filthy mini cooker and equally grubby microwave and the shared fridge full of rotting food that previous occupants had left behind some time ago. Only one of the three air conditioners could be turned on to provide warmth. The bed and bedding in our room were dreadful and the room musty and grotty. Peeling wallpaper, lumpy pillows, poor lighting and no wifi. My wife and I decided to cut and run and booked something far more comfortable in Dubbo to accomodate our family. This property has potential to be lovely if some money and time are spent bringing it up to contemporary standards. Until then - what is currently on offer is really only suitable to budget hungry backpackers and the odd school camp.
