Enjoy the fishing village of Wanchese, the quaint town of Manteo, and the nearby beaches of the Atlantic during your stay in “Aunt Vid’s Cottage.” Aunt Vid’s family restored the cottage, preserving its original charm while providing many new amenities, including WiFi, central air-conditioning, new appliances, and an outside shower and fish-cleaning sink.
Upon entering Aunt Vid's cottage, you will be transported to an earlier era of tranquility on Roanoke Island. The family restored the original pine floors throughout the cottage. They renovated the kitchen while maintaining its vintage feel with basket-weave tile, a retro fridge, and butcher block counter-tops. The little cottage has a large front porch for enjoying the island breeze. After a day at the beach or fishing on the sea, the outside shower is a private, roomy spot in which to wash away the sand.

Charming cottage-quiet locatIon
The cottage is nestled in a historic village on Roanoke Island. We really like how close it was to everything but still off the beaten path. The cottage is comfortably appointed with fun touches like a record player and a wide variety of music choices. The kitchen has the basics for simple meals and a washer and dryer.Downside- the central air really struggles to keep it cool, however there are fans. When we stayed outside temps hovered between 95-100(the one and only reason for not giving it 5 stars). The host is wonderful Also, go on a dolphin tour, 5 minutes away - Harbor Star tours!

Perfection Hideaway
If you are looking for a welcoming, clean, well cared for, out of the way, peaceful cottage filled with a loving spirit and memories of a life well lived this is the place. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Luv luv Aunt Vid's. Thank you to those who have cherished and honored her life by restoring this home she built.

The Annapolis family
We were highly impressed with this little cottage after staying many years in local hotels. The cottage was like home rather than some non descript room. The small details of a personal note made that much more special.We are looking forward to coming back in the fall and years to come. Our daughter told some co-workers and they are also interested in booking next year as they have already booked a property for this year.Thank you for the allowing us to stay in such a unique home.

Destination Wedding
This was our first experience on the Island of Manteo and Wanchese. The Cottage was very close to the venue of my nephew's wedding. We were able to have a relaxed enjoyable experience. The Cottage was well stocked, the hosts anticipated our every need and provided fun entertainment. We loved our stay.

Charming Cottage
We were looking for a centrally located basecamp for OBX exploration and the location was perfect. Close enough to drive to everything but out of the main traffic areas. The cottage is as charming as the photos and reviews say.

Fall getaway
This cottage was perfect for just the two of us. We like to stay away from the touristy crowds, but be close enough to take day trips to the beach/restaurants/attractions. Aunt Vid's cottage is the most charming little place with everything you need. Manteo and Wanchese were nice to explore, as well as trips across the bridge to all of the Outer Banks.
