Raja Ampat had been on my bucket list of dive destinations for several years, and in July 2025, I finally had the opportunity to visit. I chose to stay and dive with MAD, and the experience exceeded all expectations—particularly on the diving front. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Ross, who remained outstanding throughout the entire stay. His professionalism, enthusiasm, deep knowledge of the region, and genuine commitment to ensuring each guest had the best possible experience made every dive memorable. Diving with Ross was an absolute highlight of the trip. The resort itself was well-maintained and presented to a high standard. The staff—mostly of local origin—were friendly, attentive, and incredibly accommodating, which speaks volumes about MAD’s training and hospitality standards. From a service perspective, everything was faultless. The only minor drawback was the room size, which at 15sqm felt a bit compact. Diving Experience: The dive equipment provided by MAD was in excellent condition, and the dive boats were fast, modern, and capable of reaching even the most remote sites efficiently. Our first dive at Mayhem set the tone for the week. Dive after dive, we encountered spectacular reefs, vibrant corals, and an abundance of marine life. It quickly became clear that this was some of the best diving I’ve ever experienced. I’m already in the process of organizing a return trip with a group of like-minded divers. I truly hope Ross is still with MAD when we return—it would be a privilege to share this extraordinary experience with others under his guidance once again

A couple of years ago I had heard about Raja Ampat having the most pristine, coral reefs and vibrant sea life on the planet. As I had been planning an extended Southeast Asia travel vacation, I decided to do a few days of scuba diving while there. I did some research and decided on Meridian Adventure Dive as it is a full-service scuba diving outfitter and a resort as well that provides accommodations and a full-service restaurant. Meridian is truly a first-class, full-service operation. Booking and communication was handled via email and WhatsApp. Two days before my arrival, I received an email with very specific comprehensive information on arrival details, the name of the driver I would meet upon arrival, both at the airport and at Waisai Island where Meridian Adventure Dive is located. It included a bit about Meridian and their philosophy on preserving the environment as well as hiring local people thereby helping the local economy by giving better paying jobs. When I arrived at the airport in Sorong, Indonesia, my Meridian Adventure Dive representative, Tian, was waiting for me (he was holding a Meridian Adventure sign so I would know who he was). He helped with my bags and took me to the ferry to Waisai Island. He had purchased my ferry ticket, in the VIP upstairs class, which was nice as the bottom of the ferry was loaded with wall-to-wall people and all kinds of supplies, including washing machines, TV’s and all the other necessities of life. The same scenario when I arrived at the island of Waisai Island where my driver, Wawaan, met me and drove me to the resort. Everything worked like clockwork. I was impressed with the place as it is modern, clean, well-maintained and has areas for entertainment, like foosball and ping-pong as well as a barbecue pit. Meridian has a restaurant on site which has both indoor and outdoor seating and overlooks their in-ground pool. They have a full menu with both Indonesian and western food options as well as beer and alcoholic beverages that can be purchased in the restaurant or, if you prefer, at the outdoor bar which is next to the restaurant. Breakfast is included in the lodging and it is not the normal buffet setup but rather, order off the menu and your meal is made fresh that morning. At 2 PM I met with Dive-Master Ross who reviewed my diving history and health questionnaire and gave me an overview of what diving with him as my dive-buddy would be like. I had planned an afternoon and an evening dive today, the day of my arrival, and four dives the next day. The afternoon dive was my first look at Raja Ampat coral. It is breathtakingly beautiful! If you have never seen coral in real life, you need to do so because once you see it, it is almost too much beauty to take in, and if you have seen coral before, I doubt you have seen anything like here in Raja Ampat. My next dive was a night dive, a first for me. Ross explained everything including how to use your light/torch so it’s not too brigh

Great showers. Fast dive boats. Knowledgeable dive guides. Good food. Friendly service. Dive sites are fantastic. Rooms are small but comfortable.

Amazing experience here. This was unplanned as our liveaboard was delayed. The dive team, resort and restaurant staff all provided top level service. Dives were wonderful and the crew on board the boats were fun and very attentive to each persons needs. Very professional. The restaurant food was delicious and plentiful. Servers were ready to help anytime. Would highly recommend this resort.

Meridien Adventure Diving welcomed our group after our Liveaboard had some troubles getting to us. The hotel and dive staff were more than accommodating. The hotel is clean and nice. The diving was tremendous with a professional staff and superb diving. We could not have asked for a better experience! We will be back!
