The Hotel was really clean and the staff was very nice.Britanya at the front desk helped us out a lot with an error in our reservation.

We was coming from a long vacation and went to see family and needed a room for one night, the lady at the front desk was very helpful and really made it happen got us a nice ocean front room very clean and just what we needed for one night stay, slept good and enjoyed our one night stay.

This place has real potential . . . but it falls short. First of all, the pluses: pretty friendly desk staff; located conveniently near the beach, other hotels, restaurants, etc.; and great balcony views of the beach. But there's also the downside of our visit: room lock needed fixing (which, to be fair, was taken care of fairly quickly); there was no daily room cleaning available; the room had some staining (a chair, the toilet); the television didn't work and no-one came to fix it; and the hot water wasn't consistent. Not even quite a case of "close, but not cigar" - there's work to be done here. I suppose if one paid the regular rate, that might have been okay - but it was an event weekend (NCAA indoor track championships, marathon and five-miler, youth soccer tournament), so the prices were higher than usual too.

Based on some negative reviews, I questioned the wisdom of staying here. But I'm glad we did. It turned out to be great!  The positive experience started with a text from Joshua the morning of our arrival asking if there was anything they could do prior to our arrival. When I replied that we were there to celebrate our granddaughter's 10th birthday, he suggested a celebration package. I agreed, and after asking a few questions about what our granddaughter liked, they went to work. Wow! The room looked amazing when we got there. A bottle of sparkling cider, 4 fancy cupcakes, our granddaughter's favorite candy, happy birthday banner, balloons, confetti, leighs silly string, poppers, and probably more that I've forgotten. It was worth every penny of the $50 fee to see her reaction! And it was a pleasure to meet Joshua in person during our stay. He and Jonathan at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is right on the boardwalk and beach. It appears that all rooms have a balcony with ocean view. We could see dolphins right from our room!  The balcony was private with two clean chairs and table. The room was clean and everything was in working order, including multiple electrical outlets.  The sofa and chairs in our room were clean, as was the carpet. There was daily housekeeping service without asking for it.  We were in an ocean front suite (one very large room), which I highly recommend. Breakfast is not included, but there is a good open air restaurant connected to the hotel with great views of the ocean.  The only negative was the elevator situation. They are two elevators and the both worked fine. But most of the day they seemed occupied by housekeeping staff and their large carts moving from one floor to another. This left very little, if any room for guests.  Overall this was a fantastic stay. Sure, it's an older hotel. But it's right on the beach.  I am rating this 5 stars based on location and value. It isn't the Ritz, but it doesn't cost $1,000 a night, either. Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect location on the beach with excellent customer service. Our room had a great view of the beach (I believe all rooms here do). It was so nice to wake up and go to sleep with that view and the ocean waves. At night there were fireworks. Virginia Beach at night is loud but it’s nice to have the ocean waves drown it out. The customer service is awesome. You can text them for extra towels, toilet paper etc and they respond right away!! There is a coin laundry on the 3rd floor with apple pay. Location is prime! Steps from the beach and boardwalk. We loved it here and would stay again. Thanks Surfbreak!
