Casa Khoisan is a luxury vacation home on a 4 acre private property nestled in the jungle and overlooking the Pacific Ocean. You will enjoy the cooler hilltop temperatures up on the wide floating terrace above the forest canopy surrounded by abundant wildlife while being only a 5 minute drive from the world class surfing beach of Playa Hermosa in North Santa Teresa.The Casita offers a full kitchen, large garden bathroom with hot water and outside rain shower, A/C, 200 Mbps high speed fiber optic internet, and secured parking.The space:Casa Khoisan is one of three houses located on an ocean view estate. The owners, who are the friendly and laid back hosts, Jon and Chantelle, live in one of the houses. The property is on top of the ridge of hills that over looks the area of Playa Hermosa in north Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Playa Hermosa is well known to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the area with incredible surf for all levels from beginners to experienced surfers. The small, united and friendly community has a few nice cafes and restaurants, a surf shop with board rentals and surf instructors, and a grocery store. The drive down to the beach takes a quick 5 minutes. It is indeed walkable, around 30 minutes, but coming back, you will have to go uphill.The property has fruit trees (mango season is from March - May in case anyone was wondering) and a walking trail that leads 200 meters downhill to the bottom of a jungle valley, where the property ends at a secluded creek. Here, there is a small waterfall and natural pool in the rainy season. If the guests opt to take this walk, they will experience a special place where they can enjoy being completely alone in the belly of the jungle and surrounded by nature.Guest access:Having your own transport (best to reserve well ahead of time especially in peak season) is highly recommended as the property is situated up in the residential Santiago hills. The property is located on a public road so access is well traveled and easy but as it is a dirt road and depending on the road conditions, a 4x4 or ATV is best (especially during the rainy season from May to October), a standard SUV or vehicle with high clearance is acceptable, and a sedan is most often doable, but not recommended. This is our recommendation for a vehicle anywhere in the greater Santa Teresa area. Away from the busy chaos of town, the secure and gated estate is surrounded by nature and wildlife with unobstructed views of nothing but the jungle valley and ocean. It is located in the tranquil and desirable Santiago residential neighborhood, on top of the ridge of hills that overlooks the area of Playa Hermosa in North Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.The Surrounding Area:Playa Hermosa is a popular beach that is well known for its beauty and incredible waves for all levels from beginners to experienced surfers. It is known to be the best beach in the Santa Teresa area for surf instruction. The small, united and friendly community has a few nice cafes and restaurants, a surf shop with board rentals and surf instructors, as well as a small grocery store. The coastline just north of the beach is a protected natural zone that is stunningly beautiful and a wonderful place for swimming and relaxing in the tide pools at low tide.The drive from the house down to the beach takes a quick 5 minutes on a main public road, and the drive to the bustling area of downtown Santa Teresa takes around 12 -1 5 minutes. Walking to the beach takes 30 minutes, longer on the way back as you have to go uphill. Having your own transport is highly recommended. Guest Access:The house comes with parking spaces for 3 cars and 2 ATV's within the gated and secure property grounds.Guests are welcome to walk around and take a tour of the property. They can follow a trail that leads downhill which passes through a growing food forest consisting of many varieties of fruit trees including mangos, starfruit, guanabanas, avocados, cacao and coffee to name a few. Guests are allowed and encouraged to harvest and eat any fruit that is ready to pick. They may encounter birds such as parrots, woodpeckers, lesson's mot-mots, long tailed manakins, or collared aracaris. They may also encounter animals such as howler monkeys, capuchins, armadillos, coatis, jaguarundis, ocelots, tayras, or kinkajous.Further down the land they will pass a citrus orchard and eventually reach the bottom of the valley where the property ends at a small river that has a waterfall and pool in the rainy season (May to November).
