Pertschy Palais Hotel

The room is reasonably clean, but let down by old, low-grade furnishings. It is also clearly a partitioned space, as it lacks a proper door frame. A major downside is the lack of air-con, which caused the room to become unpleasantly stuffy, if you do not turn on the fan. (yes, a 4-stars hotel with a fan) Excellent location, walking distance of numerous key attractions.

I absolutely adored the staff. They were really kind and nice. Special thanks to the staff at the restaurant. The hotel is at an excellent spot and it's easy to go around everywhere. You can walk almost everywhere but if needed you can have access to bus and trains.

El desayuno buffet muy rico, hotel en pleno centro muy bien comunicado. Mucho calor en las habitaciones, sin aire acondicionado, tenía un ventilador pero no hacía gran cosa y mala ventilación de la habitación. Tuve que abrir las ventanas para dormir y con suerte estaba fresco. El mobiliario es muy antiguo y viejo.

As seasoned global travelers who regularly stay in high-end hotels around the world, we feel compelled to leave a direct and honest review of this property. This hotel does not deserve 4 stars. In reality, it is barely a 2-star accommodation, and this is the first of many misrepresentations. The building is a pre-war residential block, not a purpose-built hotel. Rooms are accessed through a shared courtyard and terraces, with people constantly passing directly in front of our room and windows. It is obvious that these are converted apartments, poorly adapted for hotel use. The heating is completely inadequate. With an outside temperature of around 2°C, we had to sit inside the room fully dressed. One can only imagine how uncomfortable — or unacceptable — the conditions are when temperatures drop below freezing. The furniture is old, worn, and outdated, and the rooms are in urgent need of a full renovation. The bathroom is at least 30 years old, with broken tiles and a visibly dirty shower cabin. The breakfast area, located in yet another converted “apartment,” is frankly unacceptable. The selection is extremely poor, the furniture dates back to the 1980s, and the overall impression is unhygienic. We did not have breakfast even once, as the offering resembled a low-quality canteen rather than a hotel charging premium prices. Security is a serious concern. The rooms are secured by two old wooden-and-glass doors with basic locks that could easily be forced open. Worse still, the gate to the shared courtyard was constantly left open, allowing anyone to enter freely and walk straight up to the room doors. This is entirely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming 4-star status. From early morning onward, there is significant noise from offices located in the courtyard, as well as from the kitchen of a nearby restaurant. Adding to this, all garbage containers — including bio-waste — are placed in the same courtyard, resulting in persistent unpleasant odors. And finally, the price: €350 per night for two people. For this amount, we expected a proper hotel with decent rooms, basic comfort, and acceptable security. What we received was none of that. The photos on Booking are highly misleading and fail to show the true nature of the accommodation. The only redeeming factor is the location.

We chose this hotel because of the very Viennese decor. The interior is lovely, pastels, gold touches and the right amount of kitch. The room had everything we needed except for airconditioning. There was a heatwave and the room was very hot. A fan was provided but did not cool the room down at all. Sleeping with the window open was a bit loud, there are busses and other traffic in the road below, also in the night. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was sufficient. Cleanliness was not perfect. No mattress protector, some stains on the towels, a bit of grime in the bathroom. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good. The lady in the breakfast room did every effort to make you comfortable and take care of a clean table and nice breakfast. I would consider returning to this hotel, but not in summer.
