coming from the bus roundabout you have two bridges to go, from the train station, one smaller one. If you have luggage of any size this proximity is appreciated. Near the start of the inland road that parallels the grand canal, Leonardo is busy. So, much to our surprise, entering through sets of doors, all the hussle and noise is left outside. Same with in the room, the double windows sealed out all the noise but the bells, which was fine. You need to know what you are looking for on your first visit (see attached photo) as there is no Marquis banner, but the beautiful facade stands out with the entrance immediately beside a restaurant. We left the windows open for a while and were visited by a couple of mosquitos, but they weren't a problem. We had the washroom shared (with just one other) but that too was not an issue. The room was comfy and the wifi was good. The reception and kitchen staff were personable, helpful and smiling. Your closest vaporetto stop is Marcuola., nearby, marked well on the main street, with a mini-maze to get you there. easy to miss on this path (at one of the first lane corners to get there) is an ideal little bistro, behind a brick wall. And you might want to bring your wellies, because once in order to reach the vaporetto waiting room, i had to wade through water over the plank that went up past my ankles. We were happy to have art dreams kick off our holiday and yes there is art throughout.
