Hotel Review: Club Mahindra Emerald Palms, South Goa I, ***** with my wife and two family friends, stayed at Club Mahindra Emerald Palms, South Goa, from 10th to 14th February 2025. Our overall experience was enjoyable, and we appreciated the peaceful, green surroundings of South Goa. The hotel is about a 40-minute drive from the airport and provides a relaxing atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Check-in & Reception The reception and lobby are spacious and comfortable, creating a welcoming first impression. The reception staff were friendly, polite, and experienced, ensuring a smooth and almost quick check-in process. Initially, we were allotted a room on the first floor. Rooms & Housekeeping Our room and living area were spacious and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The rooms were also neat and clean, and I was particularly impressed by the dedication of Ms. Pushpanjali, who ensured every corner of the room was spotless. Dining Experience The hotel’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner offered a wide variety of choices, catering to people from different regions. This was a thoughtful touch, ensuring guests could find something special that suited their taste. Staff & Service The staff members were well-behaved, courteous, and always ready to help. I would especially like to thank Ms. Strella, Ms. Avita, and Ms. Jaya for their support and assistance during our stay. Their hospitality made our experience even more pleasant. Location & Accessibility The nearest Varca Beach is about a 15–20 minute walk from the hotel, which is manageable for most guests. However, I found that the hotel is not very senior citizen-friendly. Since all our group members are senior citizens and have mobility issues, we faced some difficulties: • No escalators or lifts: Initially, I was allotted a room on the first floor, which was inconvenient as my wife had recently undergone knee replacement surgery, and I am a cancer survivor. Thankfully, the reception staff accommodated our request and shifted us to a ground-floor room next day. • Bathrooms are not senior-friendly: The bathrooms lack grab bars near the toilet and in the shower, making them unsafe for elderly guests. Additionally, the flooring is not non-slip, which increases the risk of accidents. Overall Impression & Suggestions While our stay was comfortable and enjoyable, the lack of accessibility features for senior citizens was a major drawback. I would strongly recommend that the management address these issues by installing lifts, grab bars in bathrooms, and non-slip flooring to make the hotel more inclusive and accessible for elderly guests. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes, for its serene location, excellent staff, and good food. However, for senior citizens or people with mobility issues, I would advise checking accessibility options before booking.
