Very disappointing experience: false advertising and incorrect conversion rate upon payment. Unfortunately my friend and I had a negative experience at Bujtina Arturi (guesthouse Arturi). We stayed two nights there: Monday September 11 until Wednesday 13th September. There were three things that bothered us the most. First, there is no airconditioning, but the guesthouse claims to have it (both on *********** and Google Maps). That is a lie. We stayed in room 1, but we were shown other rooms. There was no airconditioning there either. Fortunately, the room cools off during the night, so airco is not needed. However, it is about the principle of being honest and fair to your (potential) customers. Don’t advertise falsely, especially not if you run a business. Second, Wednesday evening, we got a message from *********** that we had not checked in. This is absolutely false. Now we risk having to pay “no-show costs”, which is not fair because we stayed two nights at the guest house. Then, on Thursday morning, *********** sent us a message saying the host has cancelled our stay. This is also false. We have contacted *********** about this, but have not yet heard back. My personal theory is that the host lady is worried about a negative review and she therefore cancelled our booking. By cancelling, we are unable to leave a review on ***********. That is the reason we are posting our review on Google Maps and on Tripadvisor. Thirdly, the host lady scammed us by using an incorrect conversion rate. The conversion she used was: (amount in Euros) x 1.10 = (amount in Lek). For the two nights the amount was 64€. We had dinner for 2 persons, this was 18€. Then we had a packed lunch for two, 8€. This is a total of 90€. When we converted the amount to Lek via Google, it was: 9569.15 Lek. However, the lady insisted that that the price was 9900 Lek. Even though we showed her the conversion rate on Google, she insisted on 9900 Lek. We tried to talk about it, but her English was so poor that it cost too much energy. Honestly, it is not about the few euros, but it is about being fair and honest to your guests. So, these three things are the main problems. Other things that were negative: ⁃ there is no sign near the road that points toward the guesthouse. We spent some extra time driving around because we could not find the place. ⁃ there is a (guard) dog that starts barking as early as 5:45. The dog lives outside day and night. ⁃ The rooms are very noisy, we could clearly hear other visitors in their rooms. ⁃ The host lady (blond hair) wasn’t very friendly and her English was very poor. I don’t know who the previous guests spoke to? For example, one time we asked for extra cheese. She didn’t understand our question… ⁃ Bring a sleeping mask, because the curtains let through a lot of day and sunlight. ⁃ The beds were very hard. One of us had a painful shoulder because of the bed. ⁃ Upon arrival we had half a toilet paper roll. We had to ask two times for anoth
