This was our second time in Costa Rica, first time in this region. As stated by others, 4x4 is a must. The property is very nice and intimate, we had debated between staying at Vista Celestial or Rancho Pacifico and were glad we chose Vista Celestial. The main difference was a jacuzzi outside which we really enjoyed having, a more modern look and that Vista was not adults only. There were no kids staying while we were there so it still was adults only. The views are breathtaking all around the property. The staff was very pleasant, with special mention to Carlos, Jose Fabio, Jason, and Jose Alberto who were especially hospitable. The path to the villas is rather steep, so best to ask for a ride to and from villa if you have bad knees or any restrictions. We did see a couple of villas at Rancho Pacifico and the path to the treehouse villas is not as rough there. Rancho is more rustic looking and also only has outdoor showers so it is a preference thing. The food was good at Vista Celestial, but we preferred the dinner we had at Rancho Pacifico. We ordered room service (free of charge) a couple of nights as it was raining and found the food to be lukewarm on both occasions. The desserts at Vista could also be better, we did not find them to be in line with the expected quality of meals at an upscale boutique hotel. Nearby there is an amazing waterfall (Uvita) and I would definitely recommend going there as well as the Whale’s Tail (lovely beach). Overall we would certainly return and we know the owners are working hard to improve guest experience at the property.
