Bahia Principe Luxury Sian Ka´an - Adults Only - All Inclusive

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. We got an amazing price for the stay and it was definitely worth it. I’ll break my review up into categories: 1. FOOD = the food I would give 3.5/5. The buffet selections were decent and had good variety. We tried Tequila (great!), Mikaido (good), and Portofino (great). One major setback for me was the Alux restaurant - I was so disappointed in my meal there. I am surprised by the reviews I’ve read saying it was good. The meat for my main course was a terrible cut and had an awful taste. The dessert was even worse - crumbles of Roquefort cheese in a pudding cake. Usually, I have great meals at the reservation restaurants in Mexico, so this one surprised me. 2. DRINKS = 3.5/5. They made a great chocolate martini and Bloody Mary. Most of the fruity cocktails, however, were sweetened with Splenda or had artificially sweetened syrups, which I did not enjoy. 3. SERVICE AND ENTERTAINMENT = 4/5. While service was sometimes a bit slow, overall it was very good. The lady who served drinks at the Cenote pool was great and very attentive. The entertainment team was great and the evening events were enjoyable. I only wish the team did more to encourage the people at the pools to join the day’s events, like going around and reminding people about them. 4. DECOR AND ROOMS = 3.5/5. The rooms are definitely dated and could use a refresh. Other than a wonky shower (which would randomly get quite hot), we had everything we needed. The main lobby isn’t as grand and beautiful as the other Bahía hotels, but the pathway to the shuttles is lit up with string lights at night and is quite pretty. 5. POOLS AND OVERALL VIBES = 5/5. if you’re looking for a quiet, jungle sanctuary, this is the place for you. We liked all the shaded walkways as my husband is prone to burning. We enjoyed the Cenote pool as there was always a lot of shade to hide from the sun as well. The crowd here is adults-only and ranged from 30s and up, but mostly was an older 50s+ crowd. If you decide you want to have a more lively environment, you can easily take a quick shuttle over to the Akumal, Tulum or Coba resorts.

We stayed at the Bahia Principe Sian Ka’an from 19 - 29 October. We were celebrating 2 family birthdays. While I had high expectations based on the hotel’s reputation and the fact that we had visited 2 of the other resorts previously our experience unfortunately did not meet the advertised standards and definitely not a 5 star luxury resort. Firstly, the food served at the buffet was consistently cold, which made dining there very disappointing. In addition, despite being assured that I would have access to all of the speciality restaurants, I was only able to secure five reservations throughout my 10 day stay. I later discovered that the restaurants were operating on a rotational closure schedule and, even when open, were only half full, which made the lack of availability particularly frustrating. The Cenote snack bar food was also cold when served even though on one occasion we waited over an hour for it. The speciality restaurants were uncomfortable due to the lack of air conditioning in them. This made mealtimes unpleasant, especially considering the hot temperatures during my stay. I paid $300 for a penthouse upgrade, yet the jacuzzi was unusable and appeared to be a potential health risk, as shown in the photos. This was a key feature of the upgrade, and it was extremely disappointing that it was not fit for use. I was offered and accepted a $100 spa voucher as a goodwill gesture, which I appreciated at the time, but on reflection I don’t think that it is an adequate response. I spoke to the reception desk twice, concierge nearly every day, I have sent 2 emails and an email to TUI but haven’t had a response as yet. I would like to add that most of the staff were very hard working, polite and helpful.

We recently stayed at Bahia Principe Luxury Sian Ka’an and overall had a fantastic experience. The rooms are lovely, and the service is absolutely outstanding — the staff simply cannot do enough for you. Drinks were sometimes a little strong, but always enjoyable, and the restaurants across the resort are beautiful. On day three our bed broke, but it was replaced within just a couple of hours, which shows how efficient and attentive the staff are. We also celebrated our anniversary during our stay, and the team at Tequila Restaurant went above and beyond — our table was beautifully decorated and I ordered a cake for four people, which turned out to be one of the most delicious cakes I’ve ever had. It really made our evening special. We spent many days at the infinity pool, which was brilliant and very relaxing. The only downside was when the seaweed removal started — unfortunately, the smell was quite overpowering and did take away from the experience a little. The biggest issue for us, however, was the mosquitos. Even with repellent, I had too many bites to count. While this obviously isn’t the hotel’s fault, it was unpleasant enough that it would stop me from staying here again. That said, I would happily consider the sister hotel, Akumal, for a future trip, as the service, food, and staff across the Bahia Principe chain is excellent.

Had a totally great time again. Stayed at Sian Kaan this time as a lot of building/upgrading being done at our usual Akumal. Other than the mosquitoes everything was great as usual. Our 14th time with Bahia Principe (twice at BP Ambar,Dom.Rep.). The food at buffet and all ala cartes brilliant, that is why we return.Erandi at Sian Kaan customer service was brilliant.Put us on her WhatsApp and when we asked her if it was possible to change our Alux booking from a later 9pm to sometime earlier she happened to be on her day off but answered and got it sorted.Brilliant. My husband slightly hurt his foot on our second day and Edwin on the front porters desk was always on hand to zip us up and down to our room which happened to be at the furthest point of the grounds. We shall certainly be back.

We arrived here on the 8th September and are currently still here until Friday. There is myself and my husband and my daughter and her boyfriend. We came last year and stayed at Akumal we couldn't get booked this year so decided to stay in this hotel as intended to use the other hotels. When we arrived we were seen to straight away and offered a drink. Took by trolley to our rooms. The rooms are very dated but clean. Very noisy air con. Mini bar was stocked but we noticed that lots of things we had last year were not there such as coca cola and snacks. This resort is very limited to food and found the buffet not as good as akumal. Snack bar not alot of choice. Pool area ok as there are 4 pools. Entertainment no where near as good as last year. Even the Akumal didn't have alot of evening entertainment. Resort very quiet and sports bar very quiet. Rained a few days and we felt that there wasn't much organised if you were inside My daughters boyfriends wallet went missing with money in it and we informed the front desk. Myself and husband went through the room with a fine tooth comb and no sign of it. 4 members of staff came over and thrn all of a sudden they found it There was no money in it when they found it so very suspicious We found coba and tulum had more happening We met some lovely people from various countries. Overall we would not return to sian kahn.

Absolutely fantastic hotel Staff make this place what it is Rooms could be doing with a revamp but overall a wonderful holiday Must mention Isabel at guest relations who went above and beyond for us Also Jhiovani for the brilliant cocktails and Eglavdy for her comical wit and laughter at the buffet
