TLDR: we might not stay here again, but still had more fun than if we had gone to an all inclusive resort. This is glamping with a pool and restaurant, not a regular hotel experience. The cons: the roof leaked, and the water on the floor wicked up the bed curtain and soaked my side of the bed. It didn’t rain the second night but the third it did, so we were moved to a different room. The fist leaky room was round with an outdoor bathroom which had jagged stones as the flooring. The only doorways between the main room and the bathroom/shower were beaded curtains. This was fine for a family with young kids, but if it’s friends traveling together it may be a little too open. The room was very dark and musty, and there weren’t many places to hang things to keep our bags and towels off the wet floor. The new room was square with a high roof and excellent ventilation. It had more lighting, but the bathroom was still very dark and the shower took a long time to warm up, and sometimes didn’t stay warm. The bathroom has a space at the top of the wall and in the roof that are open to the outside, so it was like taking a cold shower in a wind tunnel. There are also a lot of ants and bugs in this second room. They seem to fall from the thatched roof. Even though our second room didn’t seem to leak, the bed curtain on the window side was still damp because of the wind from the ocean, and maybe from the rain. Pros: the hotel is right on the beach and even more secluded than other hotels we saw in this area of the National park. There is no need to pay extra or reserve the lounge chairs or cabanas on the beach. The staff are very nice and helpful. You aren’t allowed to take plastic into the park, which meant I had to ditch my liter of water at the entrance, but the hotel gave us an amazing Jamaica juice welcome drink and has jugs in the room with drinking water. I’m not going to lie, the restaurant’s Jamaica drinks alone added a full star to this rating. I’ll be trying to make them back at home. The hotel is close to town and many guests used bicycles and bikes to come and go. We had a rental car and were able to park it at the entrance to the hotel. We left the keys at the front desk so the staff could shuffle the cars around as guests needed.
