Delta Sapa Hotel

No words....... First time in all our years of travelling that we checked in to a hotel, then promptly sought out another one and forfeited our paid booking to check-in elsewhere. Our room looked nothing like the glossy photos. It was unclean and several walls and places on the ceiling were covered in mould. Reception gave no response when we told them we were checking out and going elsewhere as the room was unclean.

The rooms were comfortable and clean with amazing views of Fansipan mountains. I thought the hotel itself was in a great spot central to the town but a little old and in need of an update. The food was not good and although breakfast was included we ate breakfast across the road at the bakery because the offerings were below standard. The travel agent in the foyer was very helpful.

We booked with a tour agency which included our stay at this hotel as well as meals (lunch and dinner). Our rooms themselves were fine (aside from missing toilet paper and water pressure) but when we were seated for our dinner, they tried to get us to sit with a completely different party at the same table to have hot pot together. Not only was this a concern in terms of health (COVID) but this was also something that was not previously discussed ahead of time. When we tried to make a request to eat separately at different tables from the other strangers, they refused to listen to us and kept trying to push us to eat communally. And when we refused to go along with it, they took back the burner, got upset and yelled to the staff to just serve us rice and scrambled eggs instead. Understandably, we were incredibly upset and walked out, deciding to eat at another restaurant in town instead. These workers are incredibly lazy. Before we even sat down for dinner, the workers were already eating together at a separate table, laughing and enjoying themselves. And earlier in the day, during lunch, we saw them playing games, doing their nails and drinking instead of paying attention to the customers. They say they don't want any trouble and want to make their customers happy but clearly this is not a priority of theirs at all. There are so many hotels in town that I'm sure will provide a much better experience that is worth your money. I would never ever EVER come back again or recommend this hotel to any of my friends or family. Please do yourself a favor and stay at a different hotel, Sapa is beautiful and I really wish this experience didn't taint my trip but it's hard to enjoy our stay because of it.

My wife and I travel extensively but rarely stay in hotels because we really don’t like them. But we did in Sapa and we’re delighted with our experience. The staff were wonderful - responsive and accommodating. The room was roomy and comfortable. The food was delicious. The price was most reseasonable. Makes I want to stay in hotels again.

We stayed for a night. Everyone was so friendly, especially the hotel owner Tung that we met! The room was very clean and beautiful with a spacious bathroom and working(!!) heater (which you'll be really glad for in winter in Sa Pa). For breakfast they offered a lot of options, traditional one like freshly prepared Phố and Banh Cuon, as well as "western" foods like Jam Butter Toast and fried eggs. Overall, we were positively surprised by the service, food and room and very happy during our stay! Thank you so much to the team!! PS: Ask for Restaurant recommendations, they have a really nice Italian option only about 20 metres away.
