Donnington Guesthouse

Very comfortable, and excellent location. Everything you'd want from a cheap place to stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Went down for the weekend for the Arc of Attrition race and was able to come and go at all hours and get to sleep early with no disturbances.

Me and my son stayed here for a family party we was in a bit of a rush as trains from Leeds were delayed but check in here was superb and very quick. It’s Just a very nice simply hotel, everything was there for us didn’t have any complaints at all and reasonably priced , would definitely stay again if I visit Truro again.

We only went for 1 night and it was very pleasant. No breakfast so would have been a prob if we had stayed longer. Very nice beds and bedding and towels. The price was very good and it was a friendly reception. Would use again

What an amazing guest house. Brilliant value for money. Obviously this is budget accommodation, so it’s not luxurious. However the bed was adequate. The room was clean and tidy and the ensuite was well proportioned. The fridge is a nice touch and tea and coffee facilities are well stocked. The greeting on arrival was fantastic and I cannot fault my stay. The room I had (room 2) even had a view of the cathedral out the window. I will certainly be back.

I'd recommend this guesthouse, clean, quiet, friendly but if you dont have a car you need to be able to walk! It's a steep road up and down. There are buses but it took me a while to work them out. But now I have, I'd stay here again for sure. Was a nice single room for a solo traveller.

Was disgraced at what I found at this hotel. I was so embarrassed I said I had to leave within 15 minutes of arriving. The room was classed with a private bathroom (10 metres away with no lock) and was wrongly advertised. The bed was hard, the room in general terrible. Rot in the shower. Cannot believe you get away with hiring our rooms like this. Do the decent thing and refund me for my 15 minute stay - ********** confirmation no: 9166374946276

Not sure where the photos were taken but don’t reflect the rooms. They need an update. The beds are so sort that when I lay on them it felt like my legs were in the air. There were no toiletries apart from a bottle of shower gel in the small shower. The sink was so small I could only just get my hands in it to wash them! The WiFi would not even show on our phone s and when I did get it on my tablet there was no signal. They did have fridge in the room. But felt like a 3 star. Last who we dealt with thought was friendly and helpful

My wife booked a night directly with the guesthouse, but came down with a really bad cold (not covid) and couldnt face the overnight trip down from Gloucestershire. Rang the hotel, and the manager couldnt have nicer, offering a full refund. Really nice experience, and I hope we can get a trip down there organised soon. Had to fill in all the details of a non existant visit, but the a good review of the experience!

First things first, the staff were extremely helpful and lovely to talk to!! Sadly we both felt the room didn't live up to expectations of some of the reviews given. Our room seemed very basic and dated. The bed was a small double, but not uncomfortable. TV yes was a flat screen! On top of the fridge which was rather noisy throughout the night. The Internet was slow so best to use your own mobile data. No curtains but there was a blind, but we both didn't like the fact that it didn't cover the whole of the window!! See photo. Shower yes I did say I was disappointed, but the step up and into was too high, so couldn't have one! Also cracks inside. The bath I was concerned about as the edges were very jaggered so I had to cover with a towel incase either of us cut our legs using the w.c. The room was freezing, but discovered all the heating had been turned off not just turned down but off! It was even silly things like the lampshades could be replaced, as torn. Put edged coasters under the bed. We leant on the bed and it shot off very quickly across the bedroom. It would also stop the marks on the wall. We asked for sweetener, but got told no as had to be thrown out due to covid. We had a lovely welcome from the manageress. Also the young chambermaid wished us a lovely day. We were told that our visit could be cancelled if one of the staff got covid...also the property was opposite where a lidl was being built!
