Emerald Forest Cabins

This resort is amazing! The cabins are clean and well stocked, and the grounds are great! We recently had about 45 family members staying at the resort for our family reunion. Some had RVs, some rented cabins, and some were at tent sites. We held two events in Celebration Hall, used the communal fireplace and set up our lawn games next to the playground. The staff is so accommodating and friendly.

This was a great place for the whole family. Plenty of room for the kids to play. The kitchen in our cabin was perfect for preparing meals. Very close to areas of the national park. Trinidad is a cute town. Food shopping in Murphys market is great.

We had high expectations based on previous reviews. I wanted to love it here as we were booked for 7 days to enjoy the beautiful Redwood Parks in the area. We have a small, 17 foot teardrop trailer and are not self-contained. Our RV site was so narrow that we had at most, 4 feet between our door and the neighbor’s slide outs. There was no room to use the fire pit or picnic table shoved under a low evergreen at the back of the site. We could hear the neighbors conversing and I’m sure they could hear us. There is a coat of dust and old spiderwebs on the trees, plants and buildings. You are required to sign an acknowledgement at registration that space heaters are forbidden. It was very cold several nights, but we complied. We knew there would be some road noise but could deal with that - to clarify, there is highway noise. The bath house entrance is accessed directly through and around the picnic table at RV site #15 or about 5’ from the cabins located directly behind it. The 3 unisex bathroom/shower combos are accessed by codes - one never did work during our stay. Showers are 50 cents for 5 minutes; it takes about a minute for the water to heat. There are no shower chairs or benches. Some reviews mentioned an onsite laundry - that is no more. The nearest laundromat is in McKinleyville, about 10 miles away. We enjoyed the Redwood Parks, but our campsite was just a place to sleep. We expressed concern and asked to move after the 2nd day, but staff informed us that was the only site they had available. We left feeling that our concerns had greatly offended them. Again, I wanted to love being at Emerald Forest RV campground, but sadly did not. Perhaps the cabins are the main attraction - I hope that is so.

We loved the emerald forest cabins!! It was the perfect location for exploring the redwoods. The cabin was comfortable and clean and had all that we needed in the little kitchen. The beds were nice enough and we loved the little grocery store in town and the beautiful beach a few minutes away!

Beautiful place among the Redwoods!

This was a charming place. I think I even saw an Ewok. However, the young woman in charge at the front desk (the manager's daughter?) didn't look at us, rifled through a stack of envelopes and tossed us ours, told us they were closing early and turned around and walked back into the side room while scrolling on her phone. I sure am glad I didn't have a question. We stayed in a one-room cabin with a bathroom and the bathroom destroyed the entire experience. It looked clean, but it smelled very not clean. I wish I would have had a gallon of bleach with me. The smell burned my nose hairs. Backed up sewer? And it was hot. So hot. They close all the windows and allow it to rise to 110 degrees inside before you arrive. You have to open all the windows and walk away for an hour for it to cool down. That's if it is the evening time and the temperature is a little cooler. If it had been midday. Whoa. Overall, it is a good location and decent for scout troop camp week. We may return, but only if I bring Clorox.
