Château de la Folie

We were really looking forward to this experience after reading such rave reviews. Directions and instructions arrived punctually from the host. We met nobody during our entire stay even though from the reviews it seemed as if there was normally someone present on site. The room was beautiful and comfortable. The breakfast, however, was very disappointing, again without a sign of anyone. The assortment was very limited, the only savoury option was eggs which were to be boiled by self, not a problem but again, not the experience we expected. On arrival the previous evening we texted the owners (at this point I cannot call them hosts) to ask if we could borrow a knife to cut some cheese - no reply. If this had been marketed as an Air B&B, I would have understood the “detached” approach, but I specifically chose this chateau based on the lovely welcome and great breakfast it was supposed to provide. I rarely write reviews but I came away with a disappointing feeling and although the place has great potential, I wouldn’t recommend it to my friends. Pity.

Confort royal dans un château rénové avec beaucoup de goût …. En plus le fils du propriétaire possède un GMG bien rénové …. Ce qui en fait un homme de goût. Accueil sympathique, chambres très confortables, petit déjeuner copieux …. Un seul bémol peut être, l’absence de climatiseur dans la chambre , mais il faut dire que la température était particulièrement élevée lors de notre passage.
