Hotel Tortuguero Beachfront

Muchas oportunidades para mejorar. En general, el hotel es aceptable, las habitaciones muy bien equipadas: A/C, Secadora de pelo, camas confortables, sabanas bien, todo muy limpio. Cerca a la playa, en realidad Tortuguero es muy pequeño y pues, de esa forma, todo esta cerca de la Laguna y del mar. El vecindario es OK. Hay de todo lo que uno necesita. La atención del personal es excelente… cuando están a la vista. Oportunidades de mejorar: 1. El área de playa debería mantenerse limpia. Parece que nadie está a cargo y se mantiene muy sucia. 2. El acceso al hotel es difícil para llegar solo, no hay señalización. 3. En la noche, la llegada al hotel es algo caótica porque es MUY OSCURO, no hay nada de iluminación. 4. Debería haber atención SIEMPRE en la recepción. La mayor parte del día no hay nadie. 5. La comida el desayuno está bien pero puede mejorar. 6. El clima es muy lluvioso, eso está perfecto. Pero, aprovechando que muchos huéspedes permanecen en el hotel, podría haber algún servicio para venta de café, galletas, pasteles, no sé, hay muchas oportunidades. Nos gustó el hotel y volveríamos a ir.

Great location (although could do with a footpath, dragging cases over mud not a good start…); breakfast is good (omelettes & pancakes) but could do with more fruit (just watermelon); no bar (probably because they had lots of school trips staying); room small but adequate (good air con and hot water!)

We stayed here for a couple of nights and loved it. Hidden away from the main street, it was tranquil but so handy for all the town amenities. There was some building work on the other side of the hotel but it was low key and didn't bother us at all. The staff were all great and were really accommodating. Great views of the beach and the Caribbean from the restaurant and the gardens around the accommodation and the pool were lush and relaxing. The room was comfortable with good air-conditioning and a nice bathroom but the walls and roof are thin. There was much discussion one morning whether the animal on the roof in the night was a cat, racoon or jaguar! It was loud enough for a jaguar but I suspect that a racoon was more likely. It is the staff that make or break a hotel and the staff here were all amazing. The restaurant staff looked after us very well and the reception team could not have been more friendly or helpful. Thanks Chris and the gang. It is worth noting that when we stayed there was no bar but we could use a fridge in reception and take cold beers etc into the restaurant. Also, the Buddha bar a few yards away was great for sunset cocktails.

Tout a été dit, l'hôtel date certainement des années 80 et il est dans son jus, pas de travaux depuis et pire, des petits bricolages d'une qualité médiocre. C'est dommage car l'hôtel a du potentiel mais les gérants semblent s'en moquer complètement, un groupe électrogène en pleine salle de déjeuner, des câbles électriques qui sortent des prises, bref il y aurait beaucoup à en dire malheureusement il reste d'un bon rapport qualité prix par rapport à la concurrence.

Located at Tortuguero town. A bit difficult to find as you have to walk along a sandy/dirt road to get there. Locals will direct you if lost. 5 min walk from the Tortuguero boat port. A fairly decent breakfast in included. This place has a nice pool away from hotel rooms. Easy walk to the beach.

Good base to explore what Tortuguero has to offer for a few nights. Bed comfortable, good breakfast. On the beach front but the entrance from the main footpath could be a challenge to find unless someone shows you as its setback behind a few properties.

Nous avons passé dans le village 2 jours de calme. L'hôtel est très confortable. La chambre est suffisament grande pour 2 personnes, et l'air conditionné fonctionne très bien. Il est situé au milieu du village, près des restaurants, et de l'embarquadère des bateaux. La piscine est agréable, c'est charmant d'être assis autour et regarder les aras passer. Toutefois, les murs sont assez fins, et on entend les disputes des voisins. Recommandé chaleuresement pour un couple :)

Tortuguero Beachfront Hotel is a hidden gem. We stayed in a cottage. The beds were comfortable and the mini split kept the room at a perfect temperature. The room was immaculate when we came and no matter how much black sand we tracked in it was immaculately cleaned each day. Chris at the front desk speaks excellent English and answered all of our questions. The breakfast (included)each morning was either buffet or made to order. Pancakes, sausage, bread/toasted baguette, plaintains, peanut butter, fruit jellies, maple syrup, chocolate sauce, eggs and omelettes any way you wanted and fresh fruit watermelon and pineapple. Volio Costa Rican coffee and orange juice. Every morning was delightful. The breakfast staff was talented, cheerful and friendly. “El Gatto” the gardener and maintenance man was busy all day maintaining a jungle of beautiful trees, bushes and flowers. The diversity of plants attracted butterflies and birds everywhere. He kept the pool spotless and treated perfectly with Chlorine (never overwhelming like some pools). His work made the beauty of this gem memorable. The location although initially harder to find is central to everything. We visited the grocery store everyday 300 feet away. Cafe Budda across the main ‘street’ as was El Patio. Dorlings bakery is across the way from the grocery store. The Police station is across from the entrance. Tour companies are all along the street. Shops and sodas are everywhere and you simply have to try each place to find the tastes you love. Our stay at Tortuguero Beachfront was a 10 out of 10. The buildings, the landscaping, the staff all exceptional. We can’t wait to visit again! I’m not sure how this wonderful place is listed so far down the list but for us it is the best. I recommend highly.

5 star, off the charts staff. Basic yet very clean rooms with comfortable bedding. Yes, water pressure issue with showers, but, darnit, when it takes an hour by boat to get somewhere, I'm just happy to HAVE a shower. Breakfast buffet always offered Gallo Pinto, fresh fruit, coffee and juices and then pancakes just off the griddle and however you wanted eggs or omelets. Nice setting with the ocean surf just right there on the back side of the hotel and a short path to restaurants and the dock in front. So convenient for tours.
