The Royal Hotel

Really friendly staff, comfy bed and good location. Rather dated facilities, I guess understandably. Noise leakage between rooms.

Absolutely wonderful stay, ideally located and the staff were incredibly helpful & friendly. Will definitely come again.

The hotel had lovely spacious rooms with high ceilings. Everyone was quite helpful and did enjoy the dinner at the hotel

Beautiful hotel. Staff are friendly and the whole place is spotless ! Breakfast could potentially do with more options for the price but overall good selection and place.

Very comfortable stay. Lovely staff. A fascinating and historic building with its fine features preserved.

We had a pleasant stay at the Royal Hotel. The weather was a bit bleak but the hotel was pleasantly warm. In our room the hot water came out of the tap and the shower a bit discoloured but the cold was clear when you ran it for a while and tasted OK. The breakfasts were excellent, I was very impressed with the poached eggs. The cereals were very tasty and fresh fruit salad was available along with cold meats and dried fruit. We ate lunch there one day. We enjoyed our jacket potatoes, I had prawns on mine. The choice of mains was very good but it was very limited if you were keeping to a low saturates diet as we were. The staff were all very helpfull and polite and seemed happy.

Went for lunch today 6 October the food was not good l only has a hot sandwich plus my friend had a jacket potatoe my chips were over cooked and no potatoe in them my friend jacket potatoe was so small and no potatoe in the bacon she had with it was so crispy she couldn't eat the worst food l had fir a long time plus the table cloth was not clean

I can’t praise the staff enough. So welcoming and warm. My issue is the mattress. Good heavens, it felt as old as the building. The most uncomfortable mattress I’ve slept on in recent years. Other than that, I loved it.

This hotel is quite incredible. Exquisite throughout, with glamour not usually experienced in hotels these days. You feel at home from the moment you arrive. Friendly, efficient happy staff. The food is delicious, and service is great. Well appointed room with gorgeous high ceilings and fitments We especially enjoyed the residents lounge, with it's lovely atmosphere and comfy winged back chairs. There is even Tarka the Otters track right next door, for an early morning jog. Across the river (2 mins walk) are all the shops too. We will definitely be returning. Thank you The Royal!
