Crofton House Hotel

Kamer was eigenlijk niets op aan te merken. Schoon,ruim en prima bed. Helaas werd de kamer niet schoongemaakt gedurende de 2 dagen die wij er waren. Dus ook geen schone handdoeken of nieuw toiletpapier. Het ontbijt was zeer karig: brood om zelf te roosteren, jam, melk, muesli en wat fruit. Thee kon zelf gemaakt worden, maar de t****e dag was er geen water meer en niemand te bekennen van het personeel om dit aan te vullen. Dit alles in een deprimerende muffe ruimte die de ontbijtzaal moest voorstellen. Gelukkig kon de deur naar het balkon open. Daar stonden een paar tafels en een grote uitpuilende prullenbak met bovenin een overvolle asbak. We kregen de indruk dat de slecht verstaanbare Indiase vrouw met kind die aan de balie zat toen wij aankwamen ook zelf ergens in het hotel woonde en de opdracht had gekregen om voor het eerst ontbijt te regelen. De weinige aankleding van binnen was sfeerloos. Het onderhoud van buiten slecht. We denken dat dit hotel, met heel veel potentie overigens, binnen onafzienbare tijd volledig afgeleefd is. Overigens was ons verzekerd dat we konden parkeren bij het hotel maar de parkeerplaats stond dus vol op beide dagen. Echt geen aanrader deze accommodatie en waarschijnlijk over enige tijd gesloten.

Seeing as I've paid more a night to sleep in a tent in a field, I wasn't sure what to expect for this. It's a cheap and cheerful hotel. Chap always smiling, asks if your ok, need anything. Room was fine, clean bedding etc. pool area and decking area were nice to use. Take a few cans and nibbles watching the sun set on the decking was lovely. Yes few things outdated, lick of paint, carpets etc but being someone that's visited Torquay and stayed in a few places, they are all like this. Good value for money in my opinion so would happily stay again. Loads of parking on roadside outside hotel so that's not a problem either.

This is not a hotel and to call it a hostel it’s a stretch of the imagination. This place should not be marketed in any of the usual websites as it is not fit for the purpose. No amenities, no one around, dirty doors, carpets, rubbish bags by the parking area. There is security cameras everywhere which makes you feel unsafe.

We had the most amazing time here. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm, friendly service that made us feel completely at home. The location is perfect – really close to get to the harbour and town centre. Our room was spotless, spacious, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There is an indoor pool, outdoor pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub all of which we enjoyed. There is a pool table and darts board too. What really stood out was the attention to detail and the genuine care from the owner. He went above and beyond to make our stay special, offering great recommendations and always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. We can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this gem to anyone visiting Torquay. Thank you for an amazing stay. From Jake and Nadia

Had a wonderful stay here, close to the seafront, nice spacious room, the owner is so helpful, only downside was it doesn't have a bar 🍺🍻 but owner was happy for us to use the ice machine and bring our own, sauna and jacuzzi was great, you just have to ask the owner to turn it on ,

Though not the worst welcome as we arrived, not inaccurate to say that the only truly clean thing in the room was the sheets. Curtains mouldy, broken window in room. Indoor pool seemed clean enough but cold. The jacuzzi that appeared on website photos was covered and switched off seemingly not in use for a while. Outdoor pool cold dirty and disused, with maintenance and garden equipment/plant left out. Rear exterior had damaged and cracked render. Sadly didn’t stay long enough to comment on service as we left within an hour but quite clearly rooms not maintained. No breakfast, or any restaurant/bar available. Really disappointed and for the most part this is down to things in their control such as maintenance and repair, cleaning etc. simple things it down. We didn’t pay the earth so was not expecting perfection but what we did get felt well short of what was advertised on website. Definitely not the star rating it is portrayed for sure. I hope these things can be picked up as this is intended as an honest review. Although when we did explain why we were leaving, the dismissive response that gestured towards “you paid cheap rates, you cannot expect 5 star” was not very encouraging. Hope these things get picked up as it is a well located building and has all the attributes to be a very nice hotel.
