Superior Inn Hotel and Conference Centre Thunder Bay

We chose this hotel as a little staycation over Christmas holidays mainly for the pool and waterslide, which my nieces had a great time in. We ordered dinner from the restaurant next to the pool, which was pretty disappointing- most of the food went uneaten. Maybe it would have been better to eat in. The room was good, clean enough with the amenities we needed. We chose a pool side room since spending time in the pool was our main focus. The hotel provides a folding table and chairs to set up outside the room's patio doors on the pool deck which was great. Overall a nice little staycation!

We were travelling back to Ottawa. Reserved through *******. When I arrived my credit card did not work. So I asked to pay the deposit in cash or debit. But still gave my credit card number. I am a visibly indigenous working professional and was travelling with my two children. Young teens. We were exhausted from travelling. Anyway, the young man looks at me and says we don’t do that here. I then asked him to repeat that. I asked why and I mentioned this was the only hotel I know that does that. I asked to speak with the manager. Manager comes and back tracks, then says as of last night it is our new policy that if you have to pay cash or debit, I would be required to pay 500 upfront, plus the room expenses. With a smug look on his face with the other clerk. I was exhausted from driving 10 hours and said okay, they looked surprised. I then said I will document the room and I would like to see this policy. To which I still haven’t. Thunder bay is know for being extremely rascist against the indigenous people of Canada. Well this was proven. The room was cheap, smelled of urine and bleach. The hallways smelled of urine and bleach. The air conditioner took an hour to work, I informed my kids do not sleep under covers and put the bag in the bathroom. Shake your clothes in the morning before you leave. I also had picked this place because it had a waterslide, hot tub, and pool. All were extremly worn out, filthy and disgusting. The hot tub had a disgusting filthy black ring around it, talk about bacteria!!! The pool was filthy. The slide was. So damaged instead of being blue it was yellow and worn out, you could barely slide down the slide. No restaurant information to offer. I suppose they just wanted you to eat in their restaurant. It was the most expensive night in the worst hotel ever. But we were able to sleep and continue our journey. I took pictures and video of the room. Oh yeah there was hand prints on the walls, blood on the curtains. Fridge was hot, and dirty, microwave was gross, remote was gross.

Stayed here during a work conference. There is a free airport shuttle - just be sure to ask where to meet the driver if you're arriving at the airport for the first time. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were spacious, though there seemed to be an issue with the heating while we were there. Some colleagues mentioned their rooms being too cold, others said theirs were too hot. The beds in our room felt lumpy. The conference meeting rooms were large and the food served was fabulous! Lots of variety and tasty too. There were fast food restaurants like Subway and Tim Horton's within walking distance - across the road and around a corner. There is also a Metro grocery store nearby. The rooms have mini fridges and a microwave.

Decided to stop at this hotel after driving 16hrs all day. It was the only place not sold out…. Well now I know why lol. First of all, there’s absolutely no AC. When we walked in the room it felt like 100° and window was already opened. We called front desk up and he said that they simply don’t have AC and just fans. Whatever…. Anyways, there was blood or red stains everywhere!! Carpets, bathroom, bed. You name it. If you lift up the sheet of the best it’s covered in red and stuff and mud. Was not a very clean hotel to say the least, and very very loud even for the 3rd floor. We barely got any sleep lol. Would not recommend this hotel.

Stayed for 1 night with my family and it was an experience where do I start: Is in a great location with shops and restaurants Arrived on site plenty of parking spaces place didn't look very welcoming with all the smokers standing outside Check in was fine Went to room (203) and first thing was the smell it was terrible the room was disgusting feet sticking to the carpet toilet not much better room had air con but made a noise didn't blow out any air and couldn't open a window as the netting to keep the mosquitos out was ripped We went to get our cases and this arrogant/ aggressive not very well dressed man started shouting at me in the carpark to move my car as he wanted the space for his wife even though there was plenty of spaces but he stopped when he heard my broad Scottish accent but did spit all over the windows of the car when I left Hallways loud with ppl at night so we didn't sleep much probably got about 2 hours in all In a whole I wouldn't stay here again and wouldn't advise anyone to stay either

This is a slightly dated building but overall was very nice. The room was spacious, well maintained, and clean. The pool area was nice but there are lots of kids. The hot tub was large but not very hot (probably because of the kid-friendly nature of the pool area). The location was good as it was close to stores, restaurants and the TCH.
