The Auberge

Just returned from a 1 night stay at this gem. A lovely warm welcome and shown to our room. Spotlessly clean with a comfy superking-size bed and a large walk-in shower. Despite being located close to the road, traffic noise was minimal and had a perfect night's sleep. We chose to eat in the on-site restaurant, and the whole experience was amazing! The food was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked! Service was faultless. Breakfast was equally as good with a choice of locally sourced items. We wouldn't hesitate to return next time we visit the area.

We had a fantastic experience here. The welcome and the hospitality were excellent. We were made to feel comfortable and valued. The room was lovely: large, clean, luxurious, comfortable... The food was incredible. Every dish was a delight, yielding a wonderful mix of tastes and textures. It was all presented beautifully, and the service was impeccable. Why this place does not have a Michelin star is a mystery to me.

A wonderful place to dine and stay. The bedrooms are spacious, beautifully furnished and the super king bed was very comfortable. We stayed with another couple and were pleased to have our own sitting area outside the bedrooms. Dinner was a delicious treat and Jake's knowledge of wines helped us select the perfect accompaniment. The bar and dining area are intimate but with lots of space between tables and this is where we had a superb breakfast. Although next to the A140 we hardly noticed the traffic. We spent the day at nearby Thornham Walks which is well worth a visit....cafe Forge is pretty good for coffee and scone. Jake and his wife are great hosts and made us feel very welcome. We highly recommend!

Wonderful! The room was lovely! Really clean! Super bathroom with amazing shower. Lovely comfortable bed with super bed linen . Tv, coffee and tea and a fridge to use. A large room with a desk and seating . A real feel of quality and care! The owners were so amazing, attentive and friendly. The breakfast and meal in the restaurant could not be faulted. My only little niggle would be the noise from the A140 directly outside the property. However the fact that everything was so good made this a niggle I did not dwell on!

Nothing bad to say about this venue - service was impeccable and Jake was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout. Rooms spotless and comfortable and note was taken that I find stairs difficult so allocated on ground floor and close to all amenities. Food was amazing and different. Our first visit and we will definitely be back!

We stayed for dinner, bed and breakfast….. While the room was very nice, the stars of the show were the quality of the food/drink and the customer service. Jake was the most amazing host: checking us in, showing us to our room and helping us with menu and wine choices. Nothing was too much trouble and his suggestions were all fantastic; the food and drink at both dinner and breakfast were amazingly good (Jake recommended excellent wine that complimented our food choices perfectly). Thoroughly recommended. PS. The hotel offers pet-friendly rooms and also ones for those with pet-allergies..... This was a big plus point for us.
