This place has so much potential, but in its current state, it’s a complete disappointment. It needs to shut down, change management, and completely rebrand. A localized owner/company might be able to turn it around, but as it stands, it’s not worth the time or cost. I’m not writing this in rage because I lost money, my work covered the cost of my stay so I'm fine. I’m writing this because I genuinely don’t want others to waste their hard-earned money and limited vacation time here. If you only read one review, let it be this one. The resort markets itself as “luxury,” but there is nothing luxurious about it. Even a carnival cruise felt more upscale. The surrounding town of Monticello doesn’t offer much either. If you’re coming to explore the Catskills/Hudson Valley and want an upscale experience, you’re better off staying in Hudson, Catskill, Tannersville, or Windham, where there are far nicer accommodations like Scribner’s Lodge. After my stay, I scrolled through most of the reviews to make sense of what I just experienced. The 1-star reviews are all correct. The resort’s responses are almost identical, “We appreciate your feedback” or “Personal preferences vary”. Taking a very "feelings aren’t facts" approach, so, let’s go ahead and separate the facts from the feelings. Fact: The food is not vegan, organic, or consistently healthy as advertised. Limited options in general. The breakfast buffet included frozen Eggo-style waffles and frozen hash browns. I bit into them and parts were still frozen, so yes, frozen food. Feeling: Feels cheap and cost-cutting, not what’s promised. Fact: Lighting throughout the property is extremely bright. Feeling: Creates a harsh, clinical vibe, more like a hospital than a spa. Fact: My massage therapist arrived 10 minutes late. Feeling: Massage was fine but forgettable. It didn’t feel like a premium spa experience. Fact: Hallway and dining room carpets had visible stains. Feeling: Signals poor upkeep and lack of care. Fact: Previous guest’s food was still in our mini fridge. Feeling: Makes it clear rooms are not cleaned thoroughly despite claims of strict protocols. Fact: Multiple guests were overheard complaining about being “ripped off” or “scammed,” and one couple argued with the front desk for a refund at checkout. Feeling: Confirms the disappointment wasn’t just mine. Fact: Towel provided for acupuncture had visible stains; when I asked for a clean one, the therapist insisted it was already clean. Feeling: Completely unacceptable for a wellness setting. Fact: Latte I ordered was made with Cafe Bustelo from a tub, yet charged at $10.95 as a “specialty” drink. Feeling: Overpriced and misleading. Fact: Main lobby had a large, unfinished ceiling patch. Feeling: Adds to the sense of neglect. Many of the employees were very nice and clearly wanted to do a good job, but others looked tired, disengaged, and like they had given up. There’s no sense of hospitality or warmth. We left before finishing our stay. When we got there they said our stay didn't include meals when we paid extra for it & the older lady who seemed like the manager told us to double check -- but with some sort of attitude or entitlement. I later realized something was definitely off with her and her attitude toward us because it felt very cold and unwelcoming. We were handed the key without an explanation of any amenities, where things are, activities or even telling us where the room was. We had to ask for that information and again, were answered with an attitude, and just told us the activities were listed on a sign, but we wanted the packet that the guests before us had gotten. Room 1: We went to our door and as soon as we opened it huge dust bunnies. I was already grossed out. The room was extremely how and we couldn't change the temperature, bugs and bird feces on the window overlooking the view outside, bidet did not work, dead bugs and toenails on the carpet and bathroom floor and trash in the trash can. They seemed to have only changed the sheets. Honestly, I have never had such a bad experience and I have stayed in hostels before. When we called to voice our concerns they told us to go downstairs and we asked if we should brings our bags/if we were changing rooms and they weren't sure. We spoke to the older lady again and she asked "what's the problem, the room is too hot?" & when we told her the list of other issues she rolled her eyes and seemed annoyed. She gave us another room & barely seemed apologetic. Room 2: The AC thankfully worked, but as soon as I walked into the bathroom everything was sticky and there were dirt foot prints everywhere. They still had a bunch of dust bunnies. It seems like no one vacuums here. Rugs are also all stained. Do they even clean the rooms before people check in? I took pictures and asked the same lady if we can just get it cleaned because I didn't want to be a bother and she said yes, my apologies. Staff: There seems to be one staff doing cafe and dining. Dinner was busy and she was rushing back and forth alone. One person downstairs and no one in the locker room to clean. Locker room: disgusting -- NO ONE FLUSHES THE TOILET. There is either no home training from the guests or the toilet didn't flush, but what I saw was disgusting. The waterfall downstairs has brown water, disgusting. Juices are crazy expensive for a small cup ($15). The next day we called around 9:30AM to ask if we can be refunded the second night so we can leave (we didn't want to stay a second night) & they said they couldn't do anything about it and we couldn't be refunded but that was a lie because when we did decide to leave later that day and spoke to the next manager (the second set of people working the afternoon/night shift was a new kid and a man in a blue polo shirt -- we spoke to the man in the polo shirt and he was AMAZING) this manager told us he couldn't do anything about it because it was after 10:3

I had a wonderful time at YO1. The facilities are beautiful, the treatments are top-notch, and the food is healthy and delicious. It's the perfect place to relax and recharge. I would definitely come back!

Beautiful luxury resort on lake with scenic views. Our suite was clean with lake view. Yoga, meditation, various massages are available. Healthy meals. Staff was friendly. Well let me start by saying this was the worst spa experience ever. I booked the fall special thinking it was going to be a great experience. Well, it was far from that. My wife and I arrived a little before 8 pm. We figured we would miss dinner by we later found out from another staff member that asked on our behalf if they would contact us and ask if we wanted something to go. She was told that someone in the restaurant stated they did contact us and we said we didn't want anything. A complete lie. No one ever contacted us. No staff to offer assistance from the wellness center on any amenities, so we had to find and figure everything out on our own. No juice bar open. Pool and jacuzzi closed except from 10am - 12pm. Infrared Sauna bench broke on us. Steam room not working Too many out of order signs on other amenities while the building was barely occupied. Juices from the restaurant were $16 each and tasted like water. They did not taste fresh. No accupuncture available as part of the deal. Massage was 4 out of 10 for me and 3 out of 10 for my wife. Breakfast was good. Wife's mud scrub was great. Room was nice.With that said, would not go there again and would defintely not recommend.

I truly cannot stress enough how terrible my stay at this “wellness resort” was. A further look into the reviews says we aren’t the only ones who feel this way. From start to finish, this place was an absolute disaster and should be shut down immediately. What was advertised as a luxurious and relaxing experience turned out to be nothing but a filthy, rundown scam. The entire resort is in dire need of a management overhaul, and the customer service was appalling at best. Hygiene Issues: Upon arrival, the state of the room was unacceptable. There were stains on the floor and couches, beer bottle caps scattered everywhere, and dirty, used bathrobes shoved into the drawers. To top it off, we found stained pillows in the closet and one pillow just left on the floor by the bed. We didn’t ask for a room change because we had already arrived late and didn’t want to ruin our limited time there, but we did report these issues to the front desk as we were leaving, just hoping to give them some constructive feedback. Unfortunately, that’s when things took a turn for the worse. Their supervisor, Suzanne, did not apologize and took zero accountability. Instead, she tried to gaslight us, asking why we didn’t bring these issues to their attention sooner – as if that somehow absolves them of their appalling lack of cleanliness and housekeeping. The whole conversation felt like an attempt to shift the blame, which left us in disbelief and made the situation even worse. The Rest of the Resort: The condition of the rest of the hotel was just as bad. There’s a massive ceiling leak on the main floor, which we noticed immediately. When we casually mentioned it amongst ourselves and considered taking a photo of it, another employee named Brandon overheard, interjected herself into our conversation, and dismissed our concerns. She had the audacity to say we were “nitpicking” about a major and obvious maintenance issue. When I responded that the appearance of the resort directly affects our experience, she mocked us, asking how a leak in the main lobby could be a part of our experience. I’m sorry, but since when is it acceptable for a resort to have a huge leak in the ceiling in the welcoming lobby without any sign of awareness or even an apology for their appearance? So not only is it poor maintenance, their employees don’t even see it as a problem! To add to the disappointment, there was a waterfall on the first floor that was running with DARK YELLOW water. I am absolutely shocked that this isn’t a cause for concern. Not only was it unsightly, but the water quality should have been the first red flag for us. The Health Museum: It was closed the entire time we were there – from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. If an attraction or feature isn’t available, it should be clearly advertised on their website so guests aren’t left feeling misled and disappointed. The facility is beautiful and very large. The people at the desk are lovely and accommodating. I was there with a friend for 2 nights and it was basically empty, which was a shame. Other than a yoga class with a teacher, everything else appeared to be self directed. The room was large, beautiful, very comfortable and clean. The beds were very comfortable. No complaints. It's a shame that people don't know about this place and unfortunately they have had a problem with marketing this facility since its inception. Having a background in marketing, I noted several problems with how they have presented and even spoke with the manager about this and how it is extremely important to understand the culture in which you are developing a presence, as each geographical area is subject to a culture's understanding of the concepts which you are presenting and should at least have a cursory knowledge of what you are offering. I have many ideas of how this facility could be marketed and even gave my name and number to the manager who has been with the company for a number of years in the event that she or another person in upper management might be interested in contacting me.

Disappointing stay overall. We were surprised by a $100 per person fee for extra guests in a room meant for four — something that wasn’t disclosed upfront. Our friends weren’t even allowed to come up to the room and were told to wait in the lobby. The massage services didn’t start until after 12 PM, which was inconvenient. While the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice, the chaise lounges were stained and there was no refrigerator in the room. We ate on the patio, but it was hard to enjoy with bird droppings everywhere. There was also goose poop on the walkway and poorly maintained landscaping. Not worth the price.
