Priory Inn

Visited for lunch. Hadn’t booked. They were very busy, however they kindly found us a table. We were advised there may be a wait for our food, it wasn’t noticeable. The food was amazing, friends both had the ham and eggs, I had the fish and chips. Cooked very well and very generous portions. Great service, very accommodating. As a new resident of Tetbury I was so pleased with the welcome and service. Definitely on my list of favourite places.

We had a very comfortable stay in this Inn Hotel whilst on a walking holiday . The Inn is also just across the road from the bus stop which made it easy to get there. Room was spacious and very comfortable, staff friendly, helpful and professional. The restaurant is excellent. It is popular with people from elsewhere and from the region as well, so booking is essential. We did not book the breakfast with our room because we needed to cut down on costs, but we expect that it would have been wonderful, just like the one course we had for diner, which was first class. We walked to High Grove for a garden tour from here, which was an easy and accessible walk somewhat parallel to the main road across farmland (with a good number of stiles).

We had the pleasure of two nights here and would return. Lovely reception team, excellent restaurant staff, delicious food. Highly recommend a cooked breakfast with local bacon & sausage. Great quality ingredients day and night. Superb location close to Westonbirt and Highgrove for gardeners or fantastic independent shops.

The Priory inn is well positioned five minutes easy walk from the very centre of the town on the western, less touristy, side of the Cotswolds. The staff are universally friendly and use your name when speaking to you which is always a nice point in making one feel at home. This very relaxed but efficient atmosphere throughout is created by the husband and wife team who run it with the husband Matt as the chef and his wife Nat doing everything else including being actively front of house at all the mealtimes. With breakfast starting around 7.30 I thinks and people still in the dining room at 9.30, that’s a long day, people seem to eat earlier here in the evening that is our experience from the south east, they hopefully give themselves time to chill during the quieter times in the day. The quality, variety and presentation of the food is excellent and although there are the pub classics, the menu is very varied and imaginative with all it seems available as small plates where that is possible. The restaurant faces the road and the open air drinking and dining area but the bedrooms face the side or rear of the property so although our bedroom could not be said to have a view, importantly neither was it noisy. Indeed it felt completely out of the hubbub of life which was exactly what we wanted.. So in every respect, an excellent place to stay.

A little gem of an inn. Superb food menus, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice well appointed rooms which were cleaned daily. An extra little touch is the free water jugs available from a cooler in reception at any time of the day. With its own ample carpark it is situated 5 minutes walk from the centre of Tetbury, 6 minutes by car from Highgrove and 20 minutes drive to Cirencester, all of which are worth a visit. The staff are amongst the most friendliest and helpful I have come across, particularly Naterlie and Becky who went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay. A special thanks goes to Becky. We stupidly turned up a day early for our 3 day booking following a 5 hour drive, unfortunately the inn was fully booked for the night. Becky rang round a number of other local hotels on our behalf and managed to get us a room for the night. The restaurant and bar are used by the locals which speaks to its quality so it’s best to book a table in advance for the evening. My wife and I throughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely use The Priory again if staying in the area.
