Hotel BBC Sengkang

A great stay! Thank you…

It's a solid choice for the area. Reception were very friendly and arranged a great lake tour for us and the beds were very comfy. We could see the river from our room which was very nice too. The hotel is a little old looking and the bathroom had a little bit of a bad smell but overall it was a comfortable stay.

Hotel was degelijk, schoon, prima bedden en handdoeken. flesje water pp pn. Ontbijtbuffet was eeenvoudig met gebakken ei, toast en cereals. Geen overbodige luxe en weinig romantiek, maar heel prima voor 1 nacht doorreis. Erbij horend restaurant schijnt ook goed te zijn. Wij hebben gegeten bij Lesehan Letpur. Daar waren we echt een bezienswaaardigheid met Europees gezin met 3 pubers.

Sengkang is a town where most people just pass through on their journey to Tana Toraja. And spend one night here just to split the distance in two. That is what we did. The BBC hotel is perfectly suitable for just that: one night. The room was decent and clean. What you would expect was there. Not much luxury, but it all functioned. The bathroom was nice and tidy and the shower gave a nice spray of hot water. You get a voucher for coffee but the machine broke down as we went for it so we skipped that. The hotel is in the middle of town and you can have a walk around to see some shops. Just don’t be surprised that people will stare at you if you are a westerner. But this is all very respectful, and amusing as many youngsters shout to you “he mister”! Just laugh back and tell them where you’re from when they ask you. Oh, and let them take a selfie with you. They will want that many times and they will proudly show it to their family. Whilst you are here, there is a nice trip you can do and that is a boat trip om Tempe lake. Will take about 2,5 hours round trip, including tea and a snack on one of the fisherman’s houses you will visit. Do this around sunset and you’ll be treated with a stunning view. Breakfast in the hotel was very simple. So that was done quickly. As there wasn’t a decent drink on sale in the hotel, checkout was swift as there was no bill to settle. Un hôtel fonctionnel a côté de la rivière,plutôt bien entretenu,bien placé pour les excursions en bateau sur le lac Tempe. Un peu bruyant car en ville, avec la mosquée proche et beaucoup de passages. Chambre et literie correcte.le petit déj au second sur une petite terrasse et une salle est vite compliqué en cas d'affluence ,le buffet est simple, propre avec des toasts et plats indonésiens. Bon rapport qualité prix

I was not expecting a lot from this hotel after reading the reviews but thought it would be OK for a night. I had stipulated a non-smoking room and the room was clean. Interesting to have a power socket in the shower and the build quality was generally poor but again, Ok for one night. The main problem however was the noise. With the air conditioning unit on you couldn't sleep, without it you were too hot to sleep. The quality of the window fittings also meant you could hear the roosters at 2am and the call to prayer. All in all we had little if any sleep. Breakfast was poor. The cafe next door (I think part of the hotel?) allowed smoking but there was a terrace upstairs and dinner was reasonable. Whilst the lake is worth visiting I would suggest that you stay elsewhere as this hotel is not up to standard
