Location is very good, the bar is excellent, room upgrade was very thoughtful and a couple of people on the reception desk were notably helpful (especially Mikheil who went above and beyond for us arranging restaurant bookings and resolving a double payment issue which no one else had been able to sort / understand).
There were a few issues which, given the price and that it’s a 5 star hotel, were disappointing:
- I was initially charged twice for the hotel room as when we checked in the staff member at the desk couldn’t find any record of my payment (because they were meant to check 2 different systems) and therefore I had to give my card details again. This took over 2 days to sort out, including various trips to the reception desk and emails to the booking company, and was very stressful and a waste of holiday time. In the end, Mikheil was about to investigate and fix this within 30 minutes!
- dirty sponge left in bathroom sink one day. One day no toilet rolls were given and I had to call down about this twice. No shower hat or beauty kit provided in bathroom.
- we were not informed that filming was taking place on the hotel steps for several hours, we were then shouted at by the film crew when we tried to enter the hotel. As a minimum we should have been informed and an alternative entrance provided for guests.
- rude staff member at the breakfast omelette stand who put ham in our omelette instead of herbs and then didn’t apologise for the mistake
