Premier Inn Taunton East

We have stayed in many Premier Inn's including Taunton East before and you generally know what you are getting, however, on this occasion we found the room to be very poor. There was mould and dirt in most corners of the room, on the window and the paintwork and furniture had definitely seen better days! The bathroom was equally as poor with lots of mould on the tiles and grouting etc. The room we stayed in needs a lot of work to make you want to stay there! Would add plenty of photos but site not accepting any images

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Sarah with a lovely smile.She was very helpfull & nothing was too much trouble. Lovely clean room on the ground floor. Bed was comfy. Had a lovely sleep. Would stay again. Town was a short drive away.

The hotel was lovely, clean and quiet. I loved the walk in shower and the bed was really comfy. The receptionist was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I was impressed by the security aspect and that you needed your room key to enter the main corridor to the rooms

Hotel is quite run down. The Reception area (if you can call it that) is far from inviting. We had a twin room and it was small with a postage stamp for a bathroom. Room was freezing when we entered but heater warned it up fairly quickly. Carpets did not look great. The lamp on the bedroom table was full of cobwebs yeugh! and Wi-Fi was rubbish. Dinner in the restaurant next door was fine. Staff were great and very friendly. Breakfast next morning was a shambles. Most of the items had completely run out, bacon was fatty and needed cooking with all other remaining items cold. I hated helping myself to coffee too as workmen stay in the hotel and that creates a bottleneck for drinks. All in all it’s ok for one night which is what we stayed for but this is definitely a more rundown miserable Premier Inn which lacked any warmth whatsoever. I wouldn’t return.

The room was a good size and very clean. It had been aired so was very cold but the heating system had it warm in 5 minutes. I don’t understand why hotels don’t have an ironing board in the room? In my 14 hour stay there was about an hour of WiFi and there is very poor phone signal here so I was totally out of touch. The staff were nice and friendly and the chap in the morning was really helpful with directions. Dinner at the Beefeater was one of the worst meals I’ve had in a hotel (I stay in hotels 90 nights a year). I ordered fillet steak which was a lump of gristle and fat. I chewed it for ages and had to spit it into a napkin which I’ve never done in a restaurant - I was afraid of choking if I attempted to swallow it. Half inch long lukewarm chips cooked a long time ago. Mean portions for the price. At breakfast the porridge was good but the breakfast buffet was cheap and nasty. The staff at the Beefeater were very nice but worked off their feet. I stayed at the premier inn at Heathrow and it’s hard to believe they’re part of the same chain.

Fairly average stay. No major complaints about the comfort but the wifi (even the paid for wifi) is shocking. Disconnects and will not let you on a lot of the time. I expect this is due to volume of users. No 4G or mobile signal makes communication to the outside world difficult.
