Inn on the Rio

So glad we found this location had a room. We had a queen bed, small but functional bathroom, a couch and a make up table. 1 1/2 miles from central Taos. Jules and Robert and Ms Kitty (yes a feline) were great hosts. Excellent breakfasts each morning featuring home made bread. Jules and Robert have owned this property for 27 years so if you need Taos and area tips ask them. With tax ranges from $180 during the week to $230 at night.

We actually hadn't intended to stay at the Inn on the Rio. We were doing the Enchanted Circle and hadn't wanted to go into Taos at the height of tourist season. But . . . I really wasn't finding anything to my liking in either Eagle Nest or Angel Fire. I looked further a field and found the Inn. So glad I did. This is a really nice place to stay. It's an older property that had been well maintained and exudes a Southwest feel. Our room was quite comfortable with a queen bed, bed tables, a nice sofa, a writing desk and chair. It does lack a microwave, mini-fridge and coffee maker. We needed to keep some medicine cool so had to use ice. A coffee maker would have been nice. On site is a swimming pool (didn't use) and a hot tub (did use; was nice). They serve a very good breakfast in their cozy lobby area. The day we were there they had a green chile quiche, muffins, melon slices, OJ, homemade bread and coffee. Had such a nice chat with the proprietor. Good stay.

Wow! Beautiful room. Great bed. Friendly, super accommodating service by Robert and Jule who are hands-on and very available. Great home made breakfast. Robert bakes bread each night. Hot tub. Heated pool. This place is a jewel and we highly recommend it.

I have been coming here for a few years. The rooms are quaint and the owner is always making sure that everything is clean and works. The hot tub is very relaxing and the pool is so nice to sit around and relax. There is a nice grassy area to visit and sit with friends. The breakfast is always delicious! We had a great weekend here with a group of friends.

The Inn on the Rio is the perfect place to stay in Taos. Located on a beautiful country road within a healthy walking distance of the center of town, the inn enjoys a wonderful location. Rooms are beautifully kept and decorated with a creative Southwestern flair. Beds and baths are very comfortable and the breakfast is amazing. The heated pool surrounded by lounge chairs welcomed us each afternoon. Innkeeper Robert is a wealth of information about the area and is a gracious host. He runs a professional inn and gives warm personal attention to his guests. Highly recommended!

A comforting place to stay when visiting Taos. Robert, the host, is especially helpful and kind. I can't wait to go back. I especially liked the quietness, the view of the mountains, and the proximity to Taos. But I must not leave out the hearty breakfast.
