Taos Hacienda Del Sol

The hacienda is a clean old adobe set on several different levels. Anyone with mobility issues could have some difficulty moving from room to room. The pictures make the rooms look bright and sunny but with the living room has dark ceilings and frosted northern windows so is actually rather dark inside. The beds were fine and the kitchen well equipped. However bring your own coffee and creamer unless you like flavored stuff. The grounds are attractive and generally well-maintained. The instructions for the key codes was inaccurate requiring a call to get in. The owner is responsive and cordial.Our previous booking for 4th of July weekend at this property was unfortunately cancelled due to a double booking error. We went to check in on July 2nd and found someone else there. VRBO refunded our money but it ruined a long planned family reunion. For our recent stay at this property we confirmed that it was not also double booked. The owner was profoundly sorry and very apologetic.

We loved the house and stayed here before a couple years ago. It has everything you need. Stays nice and cool in the summer. The hot tub was great!

Rented but not actually available I would be wary of renting here with out getting additional confirmation from the host. We booked the home months before our trip. I did get a message with the door code but not the gate code. I contacted them 2 weeks prior to our booked and paid for stay to inquire about gate code. I never did get a reply - should have been my first clue but i honestly forgot I sent the message. We arrived at the house after the check in time and we were not able to access the home. I contacted the host via phone( voicemail was full) , via Vrbo and texted him. No reply. I contacted customer service at Vrbo and they also tried to contact the host- no reply. Long story short, Vrbo refunded us and we had to find a new rental property. Luckily we found something through Airbnb- at an additional 500 extra. The host did eventually contact me- about 2 hours later and said sorry the rental isn’t available this weekend. Would have been nice to know that before the rental was accepted and we paid in full. We did get our money back and it worked out in end but we added a few more grey hairs trying to figure out a new game plan.
