Mother Nature's Inn

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at MNI. We had room 10 which is on the first floor at the end of the corridor & as such was very quiet. Although the walls are quite thin all guests were respectful of each other & there was no loud noise after 10pm. The location is brilliant, just across the road from the lake & not overly touristy. There are some nice places to eat all in walking distance. This isn't a fancy, glitzy hotel so don't expect that, what you get is a clean, comfortable motel type room.

Mother Nature's Inn was a good choice for the value. We paid mid-week rates in mid-September. The decor was cute and it was cozy, quiet and well located. For the following reasons, I'm giving this motel 4 stars, not 5 stars (the owners emailed me several times requesting a 5 star rating) . I received 14 repetitive emails prior to check-in date about check in policies, and multiple rules for our visit. . On arrival our door code did not work. This was ok because we phoned the number and were given a new code which worked. . The carpet was worn and dirty, the shower floor was dirty, the ceiling fan in the bathroom was covered in dirt and dust. Otherwise, the room seemed clean. . We stayed 3 days and were given just barely enough servings of coffee and sugar to cover three days, and there is no housekeeping service (costs extra). . I was standing outside my room and saw an owner in the locked supply cabinet about 20 feet from me. He looked at me and turned away. No greeting, or "is there anything you need", no acknowledgement. . The last email we received before checkout asked us to take out all of our trash and deposit in the dumpsters in their parking lot. I sometimes expect to do this in an Airbnb but not in a motel, shouldn't housekeeping be doing that after we depart? . I have stayed in hotels, motels and Airbnb's all over the world. Only one other time in many years did a host apply pressure to get a "perfect" 5-star review. This is extremely off-putting and negates the whole purpose of using reviews to discern what the property has to offer. My 4-star "Very good", review honestly reflects this property.

Very comfortable room in converted office building? Location and decor get 5 stars for sure. Very close to the lake and so many shops and restaurants. Tahoe City is a wonderful place! I know a lot of thought went into the decor of these cute rooms. However, the condition of the shower was unacceptable. (Rm 8 if the owners read this) Missing caulking, mold, and spongey floor. The owners sent more than several reminders telling me that anything less than 5 stars is a bad review. I've stayed in a lot of hotels and this could have easily been a 5 star experience if not for small details... like a personalized greeting on the chalkboard, as other guests mentioned in their reviews. As the owners said, they are "highly experienced hospitality hosts," so perhaps the small detail of a personalized welcome, a more discerning eye in the bathroom, noticing the shower needs attention, or noticing a previous guest left a razor cover on the shelf, which was very off putting. Direct feedback during my stay would not have remedied these problems so I didn't say anything at the time. To end on a more positive note, communication and the self check in process was excellent. I am a big fan of instructions and details which their emails were full of. Unfortunately the above mentioned details just didn't make for a 5 star experience for me. I loved the location and vibe and would stay again in the future in the hopes of a 5 star experience.

Lovely comfortable warm and spacious room. In the heart of Tahoe City ideal for exploring the lake and its environs. I would have given this Hotel 5 stars but we had to take our luggage up the stair to our room. In fairness this was not the fault of the hotel proprietors, we should have asked in advance for a downstairs room but completely forgot. My wife and I are from the UK and did not have good internet/cell connections and could not contact the proprietors as we drove to the property. Had there been a reception we might have been successful in getting a room change. Again though as said not really the owners fault.

We had a great time here & so did the pup! It is right in the center of town & you can walk everywhere. We played in the snow & took walks offleash in the foresty area behind the hotel! It was the best hotel + dog experience I have ever had!!! I can’t wait to go back!
