Lake Tapps is about 4.5 square miles (12 km) in surface area and has about 45 miles (72 km) of shoreline. Please note that the reservoir water level is lowered from late October through late April each year (approximately 5-10 feet), and motorboat access is unavailable during these months.The Sunset Lake Retreat backs to gorgeous Lake Tapps, and it is a great place to swim, float, and enjoy water activities. A short distance from the end of our dock, there are submerged stumps just below the surface. Diving and jumping into the lake should not be done to avoid injury. We discourage using motor boats/jet skis in this area if you are not familiar with this particular section of the lake. Small, non-motorized vessels are more suitable in this part of the lake.
