My wife and I, both of us in our mid-sixties, booked a room in these apartments on *********** and it wasn’t too bad an experience. We paid £72 on a room only basis, which was for a Saturday night in a sea-view room, so not a bad room rate. We have stayed in various other accommodations along this stretch of coast whilst visiting family, and sorry to say this room was not up to the standard of these others, even given that we only paid £72 for the night. After booking the room we quickly received a message from Team Mayfield confirming our booking details, the check-in (15:00)/check-out (11:00) times, the fact that it was a self-check-in apartment, the fact that you could bring a dog but that you would have to pay an extra £15 for cleaning purposes and also that they would contact me 24 hours before the stay with details on how to check-in. Then, as promised, we received another message just before our visit, which gave us the full address and contact number, front door code, room number, code for the room’s key safe, WiFi code, a warning about only having the number of guests in the room that it was booked for, a reminder of the check-in/check-out times and confirmation that there was parking on-site. When we arrived we found it to be true that there is free parking onsite, but it is very tight, and I had a bit of a ‘mare trying to get my mid-sized SUV into a space as there were already four other cars in the car park. It took a few shunts to get it into a position that I was happy with. All of the information about how to get into the apartment was spot-on and we were soon in our room. The room is up quite a steep flight of stairs, but I believe there are rooms on the ground floor if you weren’t fit and able to climb such stairs. The first thing you notice when you get to the room is the sign on the door which proclaims that you are staying in one of the rooms that featured on Four in a Bed. Now I watch this program and know full well that a lot of the properties featured on it are by no means luxurious or even in any way nice places to stay for the evening, but we were crossing our fingers that this was going to be one of the better ones, as we hadn’t seen the episode that this one featured on. We were fairly hopeful as we had passed a communal sitting room on the way in that looked in good order, and the stairs and passageways didn’t look too bad. On opening the door we were neither pleased nor displeased. The room was much as we expected for the money paid – in need of a bit of TLC, but clean with everything in it to make our stay a comfortable one. What I did notice however was a card on the bed which immediately took my attention. The card proclaimed ‘Thanks so much for staying with us. We really hope that you have enjoyed your stay. If so, please do leave us a 10 star review on *********** or AirBNB to receive an Amazon gift card worth £10’. Now this is an old trick used predominantly by Amazon sellers themselves, which I’ve come
