The Mill Hotel

Been to the mill hotel on several occasions and always find everyone so friendly and welcoming and such excellent value for money.

Impressive old Mill with working wheel featured inside. We were in the top floor of the main building and whilst not the most up to date bedroom accommodation it was clean and comfortable with workable facilities. Really friendly and helpful staff and great breakfast buffet with both continental and full English breakfast options. Would definitely recommend and worked for us due to location to friends and family. Great value for money.

When I ever i go to sudbury I stay here as it's very welcoming the staff and the manager are very nice and go up and beyond to make my visit comfortable.

The hotel is in a good location, the staff were all friendly, helpful and professional and our breakfasts were delicious. The hotel is a little tired in places and the stairs to the 1st floor were very steep, there is no lift. Our room (no. 1) was fine, overlooking the river and comfortable, if rather hot. One detail that impressed me was that the sausages at breakfast were, arguably, the best I have ever eaten in a hotel; too often they seem to have been cooked a week ago and kept warm, not at the Mill - tasty and fresh cooked.

If you book this hotel do ask for a room in the main hotel building. We didn't do that and were given a room in a different building called 'The Cottage' just up the street next to the hotel car park. It was most dissapointing. I have mobility problems but can handle most access points. To access our room in the cottage we had to navigate steps down to the entrance which had no handrail. Admittedly I hadn't requested an accessible room but these steps were dangerous and also had limited access in the evening due to motorcycles and a car parked partially across the top of the steps. The area at the bottom of the steps was very dirty. The 'standard double' room was very small as was the bathroom. Very poor for the price that we paid. On the positive side the food was ok and the staff pleasant and friendly.

A lovely hotel by the river, an abundance of wildlife on the meadows, cows, ducks and lots of people walking their dogs. my room was amazing, quite large, kind of in a horseshoe shape, big comfy bed. coffee machine, kettle etc, ironing board, iron, plenty of seating, lots of windows so nice and bright. pedestal fan also. only thing I'd suggest would be a bottle of water too. I was celebrating my 50th birthday and came across a chocolate message on a plate with fruit and macarons. how lovely!!! Breakfast was delicious with a piping hot buffet and the usual toast, cereal, juice etc. eggs cooked to order. I'd had an evening meal with family there the night before, so was a little full, but managed ok! Extremely helpful and friendly staff, receptionist went about and beyond on a matter for the evening meal, which was very much appreciated. I will definitely return in the future and highly recommend the Mill Hotel Sudbury. Thank you!
