Burleigh Court Hotel

Charming room with bay windows, fantastic view from the terrace, endearing and well thought out details, cosy corners in the garden, excellent breakfast, very friendly staff. We enjoyed stargazing in a hammock on the grounds. Highly recommended.

Set on a high point overlooking Stroud and with a fine view over the Cotswolds, the hotel immediately has a tranquil, relaxing feel. As a large country house that enjoys beautiful grounds, there is an undeniable feel good factor which is complemented by friendly staff. As might be expected of an older property there is a degree of patina, most of which is in keeping with its character. There are areas, however, which could reasonably be described as borderline scruffy, including some of the paintwork and the main stairway carpet which was noticeably stained in several places. A few minutes with a spot cleaner would have removed the marks, and one wondered why the carpet had been left in that condition. Our room, overlooking the back of the hotel, was pleasant and adequately sized, although the bathroom was extremely small - quite narrow to comfortably dry oneself. There was a compressor or air conditioning unit outside our room which stayed on until quite late in the evening, which did cause difficulties getting to sleep. We couldn’t fault the food. Excellent breakfast and evening dinner, with a good selection of wine. The outdoor pool is unheated, so for the robust! Overall we had a very pleasant stay. If you are expecting cosmetic perfection this is probably not the place for you; however I would try and accept that as part of the character of the hotel, because it has a lot to offer.

Lovely hotel in stunning location. Classic manor house decor and comfortable enough room albeit quite small and a little dated. As a 70-year old couple it was a shame there was no lift or porter as we had to lug our heavy baggage up and down two floors. Nice pool and beautiful gardens with fantastic views. Service overall was very friendly and helpful but our lunch on the terrace (sandwiches) hadn’t arrived 50 mins after ordering so I had to cancel mine as I had a massage treatment to go to - my wife’s arrived 10 mins later. Dinner in restaurant was excellent and food was delicious. Overall a very nice hotel which we would recommend despite our negative lunch experience.

We spent the night of our wedding anniversary, August 9th at this beautiful hotel. It was our first visit . We received a lovely welcome when we arrived and were shown to our large , beautifully decorated, comfortable room . We had an excellent massage by Ella followed by a superb dinner in the restaurant. The service at the bar and throughout our stay was excellent . We would certainly recommend Burleigh Court hotel and will definitely return. Elizabeth and Martin Humphries

Amazing hotel and grounds. Our room was very pretty and comfortable. Staff were very accommodating and gave great recommendations on the local area. Food was delicious. Would definitely recommend.

What a disappointment for my wife and I going out to celebrate my birthday. An evening meal that should have been excellent by past experience over 30+ years at this lovely hotel and amazing location was ruined by cooking that couldn’t even match pub food never mind it’s AA award standard. We received poor slow service - waiting over an hour for our main course with no apology given. The main courses were of poor quality. Mine was inedible grisly fatty poor quality lamb rump, with barely any meat, served with a bit of red cabbage and a dry rosti. We didn’t bother with desert as the evening had been ruined. What a shame for a hotel restaurant we have held in high regard for decades. We won’t be coming back until you have a chef and staff that can deliver excellent food fitting of the AA award and service to match.
