The best that can be said of the Lost Guest House is that it’s well located on a leafy residential street on the outskirts of Stirling, it’s a quick walk into the pedestrian area that leads uphill to the Castle and it offers free parking on the premises. Here’s the rest of what $150 p/night gets you: Room 15 was shabby, the walls had recently been refreshed with a commercial wallpaper in today’s popular light gray color. The closet was not freshly painted, it had scuff marks and damaged walls. If you didn’t look too closely it was clean. No water glass was provided, we only had 2 mugs for the coffee station, and the luggage rack was missing also, both standard items in hospitality. The bathroom had been modernized at some point but was now in dire need of a recaulk. Also if you didn’t look too closely it was clean. There was no bathroom fan, and the room’s window had a cracked pane and stayed open thanks to a well-placed screw. The twin beds were abysmal. Lumpy, soft, and hard, all at the same time depending on where one placed one’s body on the mattress. The sheets and towels were good quality, but the bottom sheet was a tad short and there was a ***** of naked mattress showing under the pillows. Ugh. 2 nights. Over and Out.
