Golden Lion Hotel

Great value and centrally located. Easy walk from railway station (you can walk via Thistle Mall if weather is awful…enter near bus station and exit out of Boots). This is a hotel that has history so wonderful ambience and although single room I was in was a bit dated, still totally comfortable and has all you need. Wifi can be an issue but I was not there for wifi. Having a hot bath was awesome, however I struggled with getting a hot shower the following morning. Restaurant / bar is fantastic and breakfast options adequate. Buffet style cooked breakfast options available and expect dining to be busy. Overall centrally located and warm, welcoming staff. Would definitely stay again.

Absolutely disgusting and dated hotel room, 3 stars is generous. I have never stayed in a hotel so dire in all my life, would avoid at all costs although it’s a shame as the reception area and bar looks beautiful, clearly where they spent there money. Asked at the reception for a different room but fully booked… not even an offer of money back or a free drink in the bar. Terrible service, you would get way more for your money in a travelodge. Stayed in a beautiful hotel in Glasgow for the same amount of money last night which also included breakfast and a bottle of prosecco…
