A absolutely superb stay! The location is close to lots of local amenities and there is plenty to do! A great trip for me and my wife. We can’t wait to return with our children. we really enjoyed how private and romantic the setting was. Would leave 6 stars if I could

I went in August for my daughter’s 21st birthday celebrations with family and was warmly welcomed to excellent sized rooms with a cosy feel. We made good use of the hot tub and facilities. These were all kept very clean which helped to make the stay even more special!

4 adults, 1 toddler and a baby booked the 3 bedroom lodge. On view it looks lovely, the location, scenery and style of the lodges, all beautiful. Before I go into detail of our stay I need to mention Gilly, the lady taking care of the lodges on behalf of the owners is fantastic and one of the nicest people you could ever meet! The owners on the other hand……. Obviously do not care for their guests and are incredibly rude! As mentioned we booked the 3 bedroom lodge to sleep 6 people in total inclusive of a toddler and baby. Sadly we could only use 2 rooms as the 3rd had a LOCKED (**important point**) cupboard which was making a ridiculously loud beeping noise. We mentioned the noise to Gilly as soon as we saw her and she arranged for someone to come the next day, unlock the cupboard and fix the noise. This was done the following morning and we had no issue for a couple of hours. Later the same day the owners sent someone else back to turn the electronics back on which were making the noise and the beeping started again! Another night the bedroom was unsuitable for anyone to sleep in yet we’re expected to pay full price for. The baby was in with myself and husband and toddler had to share the other double bed with grandparents which was quite the squeeze and very warm! Back to the fact this cupboard was locked, when we contacted the owners to request some compensation for the inconvenience and disruption caused by the lack of 3rd bedroom for our 3 night stay, their response was ‘you should have opened it’ ! When I re-explained the cupboard was, again, LOCKED, they have decided to ignore my correspondence. There were a number of other shabby issues with the lodge; cheap and flimsy cooking utensils which for a self catering lodge prevented any cooking being able to be done for more than a single person let alone the 6 people the lodge *should sleep, old broken furniture (luckily Gilly was able to replace swiftly before our toddler could hurt herself on a chair with a broken back rest) and the shower literally fell to bits which left the handyman in stitches laughing at how bad shape it was in! Overall the idea of the lodges in the setting seem ideal but the reality is far from. I would not recommend to anyone. Gilly, go somewhere that deserves you as you are too good for this place.
